Whats next for David Haye if he loses this fight?

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by The-Holmes-Show, Nov 5, 2009.

  1. Seriously speaking i think Haye will be screwed, he is fighting the weakest champ in the division (respect to valuev for being champ, but he is no match for a klit), will he become a gatekeeper/fringe contender who fights up and comers and other names like Adamek, Povetkin, Chambers, Solis. Will his profile recover sufficiently for him to make a comeback? Could he end up on the domestic merry go round like Danny Williams did? Many questions will appear if Haye loses, thoughts???

Nope. He'd probably seek a rematch. If he lost again he would quit. He's already said that he's quitting soon anyways hence him rushing to get the big fights. He doesn't seem like the kinda guy that would allow himself to be used as a stepping stone, much in the same way as Hatton said he wont allow Khan to use his name as a stepping stone.

depends how he loses. if he gets robbed he scream hail mary (quite rightly so to) but if he gets sparked he might go quietly into retirement

Idont think Haye has realy been rushing fights as he has had one bought in the past 12 months hardly frequent!!

If he loses i agree if hes robbed he will want re match poss in uk, if he is k o "d i dont know, but cant see him fighting domestic opposition

Noonan I dont mean he's rushed his fights I meant it in the way that he's been 'trying' to rush the big fights through, ie. going straight for the Klits/Valuev after the Barrett fight.

  7. Hayes took so long off to a) bulk up to a decent size for the hw division and b) cos setanta (his employers as you like) went bump, he claimed injury for klit fight cos he wernt getting paid for it as all his revenue for the fight was off setanta...

    c) because he doesn't fancy his chances in a long campaign at heavyweight.

I have no idea what he will do..... but that said I don't see him losing!

I'd love to see him batter both Klitschkos, great guys the pair of them, but :zzz :-(

As for Wlad being linear after Chagaev's debacle :-(

If he loses he's ****ed lets be honest. He's already been fasttracked, and I get the impression he's somewhat disliked in the business for that along with his mouth. Who is going to give him another chance? He'd have to work his way back up the career ladder which will be very difficult for Haye with the expectations he places on himself, at his stage of his career.

    Retirement.

Look even if Valeuev gets a gift decision his mandatory is Ruiz. Haye wont fight in the mean time and he could be out for another 12 months.

If Valuev ko's him then hopefully he will apologise for all the bull**** he has been talking and then go back to Cyprus.

    Chris Arreola?

It might do some numbers, though I can't see him walking out of a Vit fight straight into Haye.

Assuming Haye looses he'll still try and got for Vitali or Vlad. If he doesnt get those matches im sure he'll call it a day. He never had any intention of being a stayer in this sport.

As has been already stated, Haye has often stated he doesn't want to stay in the game too long. Some fighters say that all their career then do the opposite though. Judging by his relative lack of activity/fights so far though, I doubt he will be one of those.
