I will post a poll but who should Andrade fight next? A win over Grady Brewer sets him up for bigger things.
Two undefeated fighters should fight, Alvarez vs Andrade for me, even tho Alvarez should dominate and win, Andrade doesn't sound to exciting from what I've heard from people who watched the Andrade - Brewer bout.
The guy has only had 14 or so pro fights. Even with an extensive amateur background, seems they still like them to get about 20 fights before they start facing the top tier. Don't think they will match him with a top ten for a while.
I'd confidently pick Lara to school him. Maybe Molina could upset him. With the rest of them, the door is open for him to "ugly" his way to a boring points win.
I see Canelo beating him, Lara does but I question Vanes and Wolak so I couldn't predict. Many fights for him. Molina and Angulo would be a toss up. He beats Yuri Foreman, Carlos Quintana, Austin Trout no matter what.
Andrade would likely have an easy points win over canelo who is just too flat footed to beat DA. This guy has the potential. People are overly harsh for his safety first style. Look out for him he is something.
Why is it overly harsh? Boxers shouldn't be thumbs-downed for having awful stick-needles-in-your-eyeballs styles?
So you need every boxer to go in there and Arturo Gatti out a win to appreciate them? I see the skill in DA. Excellent foot movement, keeps people at his range. Throws 30 plus jabs a round. Excellent angles, good balance and stamina to do it for 10 rds. When he opens up he is pretty flashy and accurate. He is 23 years old only and has already stepped up and beat a dangerous gate keeper. Overly harsh because the guy put on a clinic where Brewer wasnt even able to hit him. And yes overly harsh due to his age and already the level of competition of last night. By the time he is 25 he will have a world title. I would expect a more intelligible response from you IB.
I have no problem with defensive-based styles, RC. :nono Remember, I'm one of the very few Cory Spinks fans on ESB. :yep Andrade just takes it to that really unacceptable level. Straight up running from Brewer was a big turn-off. Remember how long it took Andre Dirrell to shed the "runner" label after his despicable showing against Curtis Stevens? (deservedly long, too - and he didn't ever shed it in many people's books) Both Andrade and Dirrell damn well could have won against Brewer and Stevens without running as they did, but they chose to beat their feet and must therefore lie in the bed they made. There's a different between using some skill and guile to "hit and not get hit", and being almost COMPLETELY negative. Mayweather is usually an example of the former. Dirrell against Stevens, Andrade for quite a few rounds against Brewer, Johnson against Klitschko - these are all examples of the latter.
Controversially, perhaps. I can see that being one of those really divisive sore spots, both on ESB and throughout the boxing community - where one side emphasizes clean work and defense and the other aggression and forcefulness of blows, and you wind up with a comically wide array of scores from judges, media and fans. :think
i mean he would be able to control the distance and jab jcc jr and just be able to be able to control the tempo. but he is still only 23 so i can see them not rushing the porcess.
I think you are over reacting to one fight that was DA's step up fight. The fact is DA was very cautious against a dangerous opponent. The kid is so young I think this last fight will be a major confidence booster. I know you seen the flashes of brilliance in him. He has the tools, much like Dirrell who moved past his poor Stevens performance and gave us some very entertaining fights against the Top Super Middles in the world. I expect the same from DA who in my opinion is way more in control of his ring generalship at his age than Dirrell was. Frankly, using the Johnson fight as an analogy was a poor one. Andrade controlled his opponent and basically won every rd. Johnson was there to survive and controlled nothing. I am saying people are overly harsh on him. If he keeps his safety first style forever while only throwing jabs the rest of his career, ok i understand. But, lets give the young guy the benefit of the doubt on his step up fight and first real television appearance and look at his potential, which is pretty impressive.
There is talent, no doubt. Maybe he'll win back some hearts and minds. We'll have to see. The negative performance was compounded by his hot mess personality. Part of the harshness might just be in reaction to what a dumb and cocky little **** he came off as. That could just be youth - or maybe he is just a complete tool. In the long run, if he's good enough in the ring that won't matter. :good
