I thought Hopkins-Dawson would be a good fight, but can't see Dawson wanting to fight him. He proved he still has something to offer, but not quite enough for a world championship. Rematch with Glen J?
Why not put some fat on Sven Ottke and let him fight Hopkins. It's a win-win situation. Hopkins gets a win and Ottke can be buried for good.:cheers
he said that right now he's on vacation and not retired but he sees this year being his last year...whatever that means
There is nothing else for him to prove so he should just retire and enjoy his business side of boxing.
I hope he retires. I don't want to see him ruin his legacy by getting his ass handed to him in his last fight. He made a very respectable showing against Calzaghe and boxing fans will remember that. I hope he isn't deluded into thinking that he can win against a top level fighter. He is just getting older and there is no telling how much older he will look if he fights again.
It's not a win-win situation for anyone unfortunate to watch it up until the inevitable double disqualification for non-aggression.
His last fight was a promotional failure insofar as most of the tickets were sold to Brits. If Hopkins wants another fight he will have to shell out the promtional expense out of his own pocket. Chances are he is finished.
I'd like to see him retire. Went out by winning rounds and knocking down a top P4P fighter at age 43. That's good enough for me.
It's a great way to go out. Not as great a story book finish as dominating Tarver and winning a title at a new weight class, but still very impressive. I'm sure the past couple of years he has been trying to make up purse-wise for those years he was fighting for less than he deserved as the top middleweight in the so I'm glad he got the paydays against Winky and Joe. However, knowing Hopkins, he probably feels like he needs to have one more fight to make up for that 200K he got fined for pushing Winky in the press conference. I'll bet Hops can account for every dollar he has made since he got out of prison.
