I think a rematch will happen. There's an undisputed fight to be made, probably a rematch on that (at least one), maybe a WBA mandatory after, I suspect AJ and/or Wilder will be given a shot at the undisputed champ. It could be a while before his mandatory shot actually happens.
Glad that this guy's fans got their overly-inflated bubble burst, though weirdly it was also the first time I was really impressed with Hrgovic's skills (the fluidity of his combos was very nice for a big man). But yeah, poor ring generalship, leaky defence, repetitive tactics, plus that weird body language (though I'm willing to give him a pass on that if it was something concussion related). Not a great look at all. Let's see him in against Bakole, Chisora, or Demirezen. One of those tough come forward tank guys that'll put it on him and test his mettle. If he survives that then a Joyce or Joshua should be on his radar (though either man murks him).
I just hope he doesn't just sit on his mandatory status fighting nobodies until he gets his title shot. He would benefit in being further tested before facing the very top guys and I hope he has realised that if he's to progress further he's needs to improve in a number of ways. He needs to learn to move his head or adopt a higher guard, simply leaning away with his chin in the air is not going to cut it when he's facing big men who can bang like Zhang. He also needs to learn to fight on the inside, he has no inside game at all, he's a sitting duck there for any decent inside fighter. His attacks are also way too predictable, he's great at setting up the right hand but at the top level he needs more than that.
After that performance last night and his habit of walking off when hurt it’s only a matter of time before his 0 goes, even though he is mandatory he won’t struggle again to get a fight after the way he was exposed by Zhang .
I was very disapointed with Hrgovic's performance.. There were many things which looked weird to me and I'm not sure if he ever be good enough for the top guys. He has to work a lot on himself and should prepare for a fight with someone between top15 and top30 next before trying to step up more.
I had always rated Hrgovic highly and expected big things but last nights performance was terrible. He doesn't win a world title at all.
I predicted Zhang to beat Hrgovic. Well, i was wrong. Somehow. But i also predicted Hrgovic turning out as a bit of a fraud prospect. And he did. I watched almost every fight of Filip since he turned pro. I bet him to win a medal at the Olympics back in the days and i was really high on him early in his pro career but he did some stuff i didn't get. 1. He fought better opponents in his first few pro fights (Mansour, Johnson, Sour, Turner) than he did in his last few (Ahmatovic, Radonjic, Kartozia). Don't tell me nobody wants to fight him. You can still get some decent journeyman. Fight a guy like Sokolowski for example. 2. I don't get the reason behind him gaining weight. He weighed in between 220 and 235 for his first 9 pro fights and then he slowly gained weight and now he's weighing ~ 245 pounds for his fights. In my opinion thats too much. He also looks out of shape. He should have bulked up muscles but not fat. He'd be a better fighter with 230 pounds imo. 3. Why is he changing his coaches so often? Now it's Shields, Pedro Diaz before that. Cordas and Hasan also lurking in the background. He has to find a style. He's basically throwing 1,2s all the time and has no Plan B.
