Yea me too. I would love to see him win one more big fight vs. a quality opponent. I don't see it happen but will be routing for him until the day he finally hangs them up.

Jones doesn't want a big fight against a credible opponent like Hopkins or Adamek.

He wants to continue feasting on opponents who have no chance against him so he can create the illusion that he's "the same ol' Roy".

He wants to fight Danny Green November 21 in Australia.

    That's his plan.

Best possible fight BY FAR for both fighters, each for his own reasons.

I'd make Hopkins slight favourite, but not by a lot.

I don't think so. I think Jones wants to go out on top to further solidify his legacy and be remembered as the greatest, rather than being washed up. It's a tricky situation fighters get in when they were the best of the best and fall off that pedestal and basically become mortal. It's an addiction and I think he needs one last hit to quench this hunger. I don't think he'd be happy if he leaves the sport anything less than his best. I can't really blame him but he obviously takes that chance of somewhat tarnishing his legacy.
This is why I think Hopkins should get out and retire. His fight versus Pavlik is as good as it will get for him. I mean what more do you have to prove? Jones is still trying to erase that Tarver KO but it hasn't happened yet and won't until he beats the best -- then he can live his life, after boxing, in peace

Jones wants to fight Danny Green. Bernard Hopkins wants to fight Adamek or Dawson (or recently, even perhaps Paul Williams).

I think that says it all right there.

Jones WANTS to fight Danny Green.

    I've been keeping up.

Roy's full of ****, and has been full of **** his entire career, claiming he'd fight Buster, Jirov, Michalczewski, etc.

If he wants to fight Bernard so badly, then why is he planning a November 21 event in Australia with the unheralded Danny Green?

That was before he cornered Bernard on the radio.

If Bernard had been a little more confidant, the Green fight would have been put on hold.

All Bernard had to say, if he had the confidence, was "OK, winner takes 60 %" as Jones requested.

Bernard is the reason there was never a rematch.

Can't blame hime before as the result would have been a foregone conclusion. But now, he would have to be the favourite in most people's mind.

But not, apparently, in his own.

Roid Jones ran from Michalczewski for years, HBO wanted that fight to happen, but Roid always refused no matter how much money he was offered. Roid knew he would get knocked out.

From what I remember Mich wouldn't come to the US though and I can't blame Roy, P4P #1, not wanting to go there.

They are working on making that fight for Nov 21.

I haven't heard any changes on this. Not that things couldn't change, but is my understanding that Roy intends to go forward with this meaningless fight (against Danny Green).

I guess we'll see what happens, but Green fits the mold of fighter Roy excels against. Someone who is slow and possesses mediocre skills.

I'm not going to argue any of this.

All I will say is if Roy's next fight is with Green and Hopkins fights Dawson, will you reconsider the view that Roy actually wants anything to do with Hopkins?

Roy never beat the real light heavyweight champion making his title reign one of the most dubious in history.

Dariusz was already a champion for two years when Roy made the jump to light heavy, and DM than unified essentially all of the belts before being stripped for political reasons.

Roy may have been "P4P #1" but he was never the legitimate light heavyweight champion.

Yea, but it was entirely Jones' fault for not making that fight. Each guy refused to travel

I think there's plenty of blame to go around. Regardless, I think both of their legacies will forever be tainted because this fight never happened.
