Thurman had a good performance with Barrios, definitely has stuff the work on.

Does this change your welterweight rankings?

Thurman got rounds in and shook of the rust. I expect him to look beast next time out. Should be Spence/Ugas winner or Dud Crawford.

Thurman should get another fight in while the top guys are tied up.

Given how long he was off. A solid contender if he can.

He looked good last night. Better than I was expecting. He’s defo top 10, needs to do more before he gets back in the top 5. Spence & Ugas are tied up so Crawford is the biggest out there for him. If not a Mean Machine or Avanesyan would be great tests for him while he’s waiting

He looked alright. Some very dominant rounds but he faded. I'm also disappointed in his power. It was overhyped. He might beat Ugas but not Spence or Crawford. Unless he was shaking off rust today and can improve.

Thurman's performance did not change my ratings. I'm a Thurman fan and I certainly hope his comeback is successful but at this point I don't even him ranked ahead of Ennis or Ortiz Jr. let alone the champions. One fight against a limited opponent who was fighting for the first time as a full-fledged welterweight does not constitute reentry into the upper echelon.

Thurman will probably take another 2 year break to avoid burn out

He looked better than expected all things considered but nowhere near back to his best. But it was his first fight in 2.5 years and he's been ravaged with injuries in recent years. Prime active Keithy would've blasted a C level like Barrios out of there with ease, but to be fair to Barrios the added weight clearly added to his punch resistance somewhat and he was game if nothing else.

Rusty inactive Keithy shut him out and didn't need a come from behind stoppage to get the win and he was clearly having fun in there and trying to get rounds under his belt to shake off the rust and at no point did he go all-out to try and force the stoppage. Even after hurting Barrios badly in round 4 (IIRC) he backed off and let him off the hook.

Two years out and he needed a few rounds to shake off the rust. I’d like to see him fight another opponent of this level (basic) before facing any big names. If he stays healthy and gets back to form, he’s still a tough guy. I’ve always liked Thurman and hope he does it. He’s a classy guy and a good professional. Okay know he is injury prone and fights infrequently. All is forgiven if he get back and fights for a strap against a top opponent later this year or early next. Good guy, entertaining fighter.

Nope. Thurman still gets his arse handed to him by Spence, Crawford, Ennis and Ortiz. I think he would be even with Ugas.

Im pretty sure the Ugas-Spence winner is obligated to fight the Stanionis-Butaev winner so they might be tied up until the end of the year.

    Someone like Cody Crowley?

Keith will take another solid contender and then go for his cashout fight.

Could be Spence, Crawford , Ennis or Ortiz - whatever pays most.

And by cashout I don't mean he's going to be a lamb. I'll think we'll see some improvements from last night and he'll be dangerous.
