Thurman shook off the rust and looked aces against Pacquiao.

He shook of the rust against Barrios and will look aces next time out.

His opponent was Barrios. Looking good against Barrios means you still have a lot of work to do. Had he come in and dominated Barrios from post to post and just obliterated Barrios I’d say he is ready for the top 5. Last nigh he looked like a guy that’s been away for a long time. He needs one more fight with guy in the top 10.

He shook off the ring rust and looked pretty good, I’d rather be fight another lower tier fighter before facing the likes of Spence, Crawford, or even Tank. If he stays mentally focused and dedicated then he can surely still compete against the the elite WW.

He did very well. Great talent in there. But...

But before facing the top competition in the division he should brush up his boxing and make one more warm up fight. Or even 2 if you push me. He looked rusty as hell, specially in the early and latest rounds. He has paid a big toll for those 2-3 years of inactivity.

Once he brushes up his boxing, he will be a threat for any top fighter in the division. A difficult night for any of them for sure.

He needs another stiff test to work on his stamina and combos. While he easily beat Barrios he is not ready for a Spence or Crawford. Two and a half years is a long time to be away.

Thurman is to be congratulated for his choice of opponent , Barrios was a solid C welter who really presented no danger to him. I saw nothing to think he'd beat Crawford, Spence, Ennis or Ortiz. Since Spence is avoiding Crawford at all costs I'd say a Thurman Spence fight is possible later this year. I don't believe Thurman goes anywhere near Bud or Ortiz, one hook to the liver from those guys and Thurman is writhing on the canvas like a wounded snake.

Would be a great fight for Josh Taylor to target coming up from 140 - assuming as most expect he takes care of business with Catteral.

Both fighting fairly close together this month, giving a fight maybe August / Sept - probably a win-win for both guys if they can get it made.

Such a shame Porter has retired, would have loved to see a second fight between them. First one was a classic.
