I actually can't wait to see Tete again,he's got some new fans this week that's for sure!I'm unsure whether he was as good or Butler made him look good, Did Butler underestimate him? i mean did he take him as seriously mentally as he did Hall? ****** did sound fuming lol, sure Butler wouldn't struggle to find a new home if he had to. I think he's a very good fighter who has the potential to make a very good career but it's ridiculous to hear pundits put him on a superstar pedestal based on anything we've seen so far (solid but unspectacular) He'll need to really commit (not saying he hasn't) if he wants to even consider another world championship as it won't be easy. This is in no way critical of Butler or his team who for the most part were spot on in the advice they gave him it just seemed they could've said anything & lost.I know fighters are supposed to be confident but in Tete's pre fight interview he actually said what he was going to do & got it spot on
Well you could do with having a look of that picture. That was Butler the day or so prior to the weigh-in. There's no way you can deny he doesnt have any definition to his body
2 massivley different body make ups your bodybuilder is carrying heavy heavy muscle and holding some excess water under the skin , look at the distortion at framptons waist in the skin , ive been at 7.5% and ive seen boxers in my gym pre weigh in at 5% and framptons miles leaner
Mate, you cannot get down to 2% bodyfat without severely damaging your nervous system and subsequently having your organs fail. It's just not possible. Google is your friend. Frampton gets into great shape, lets just leave it at that.
Editor's note (2/22/10): Professor Mourtzakis wanted to emphasize the risks associated with an extremely low body fat: "While it is possible for some athletes to reach 2 percent body fat, I would certainly not support this approach for athletes. Achieving this range presents health risks, including increased risk of infection and injury. This approach often supports unhealthy eating behaviors and patterns that are reflective of disordered eating behaviors. It is especially important for athletes to maintain adequate intake of all macronutrients (that is, protein, carbohydrates and fats) to achieve optimal performance and maintain their health." You have a point but bare in mind hes only that lean for a short period of time before carbing and hydrating back up 10lbs from weigh in to fight in 36hours
24 hours isn't enough time to replenish your system, put weight on yes but you would still be very weak for a couple of days!
If Butler is 7/8% body fat then he's probably in the right weight division, not worth him taking the chance of going to a lower weight. It makes you wonder how Tete makes the weight, I was glad to hear him say he's looking to unify the division so we should get a chance to see how good he actually is. I hadn't actually seen either Butler or Tete fight before but always like a bit of a bet. I looked at Tete's record and noticed he'd been stopped at a lower weight category a few years back and had a few losses and Wazza doesn't often get these things wrong so left the betting well alone.
Again for those interested, If you have a look at that account I mentioned on the last page (twitter). The photo up of Butler from just prior to the weigh in states he was 5.9% body fat. He looks ripped too (moreso considering how small he actually is)
Good post. When you get right down to it, Tete really 'only' produced good fundamental boxing. "Only" is a bit harsh - but really he just stuck to the basics and did it consistently. Lets not elevate him to superstar status just yet. He didnt really do anytjing "Brilliant" or "dazzling". Impressive, yes, but it was only one peformance, one fight.
Sometimes you face a guy who is bigger and better, and thats what happened. That uppercut after the dummy jab would've KO many in the flyweight to bantamweight divisions!
:good Don't think it works immediately next for either man, but something to build toward at the end of the year or early next year.
