Where does he go from there? Is he gonna fight the winner of Torres/Holt III? Or maybe Bradley? That would be a pretty good fight and Bradley is not likely to get his shot against Hatton anyway. Another option is Judah but I don't see this fight happening.
he'll probably fight some fringe contender and have a hell of a time getting a SD win, then everyone will say hes a great boxer again and he'll fight someone who knows better and is looking for an easy enough fight against someone who people respect.... lets call it.... a top 10 contender at 140 or 147 in about 9 months and he'll loose...
Go into another ballroom fight like Cotto said.....he has plenty of guys to fight but it won't be as big as Hatton.Basiccally he blew it.
i know this sounds drastic... but im not into fighters taking beatings for just money. He is a good talker, has good looks, is young.... i say retire, and get into being a boxing writer/analyst for a boxing site/mag and eather showtime or hbo... maybe try to get a position in GBP... ect. Hes proven hes a good fighter, he rose to a spot in the sport where most people who lace up the gloves will never get to, made some decent money, showed he was a tough *******... have only lost to future HOF'ers... Hes not going to be champion at 140... i think torres, holt, judah, witter, bradley all beat him.... what is the point really? I say retire... but im just not a fan of fighters fighting on for really no reasons, ESPECIALLY a guy like malignaggi... hes young still, hes a good looking guy, good talker.. he has so much more he can fall back on. The other deciding factor is he will NEVER have a short night in a fight... he can never have a 'punchers chance', you know? so ya... i say call it a succesful career and retire. Go to another avenue within boxing
zab keeps getting big fights because hes an established character in the sport... people in the buisness have known him since he was an amature, he was a prospect star, hes always dangerous, is an ex undisputed champion, puts on exciting performances when it counts, and actually has a little niche following and no matter who he is fighting just about, has a decent chance of pulling the upset. Malignaggi, as much as i like him, brings none of this to the table.
