Now dethroned from his belt and receiving a brutal KO loss, where should Adonis go from here? Should he retire? Or do a fight with Jean Pascal? With Adonis having no belt, does it give him more incentive to take fights with Pascal and other fights?
Stevenson is finished. No board is going to give him a license to fight. Even if he hadn't suffered the injury that he has, I doubt he would fight on, especially at sub world title level. There's simply no point to it. He has already made enough money and has no reason to further tarnish his record.
He should've cashed out in a big fight years ago. Taking the easy route until your 40s has its consequences.
Umm what's next for him? Assuming he regains consciousness, a lengthy spell of rehab and physio and hopefully he can walk and talk unaided. If he makes a recovery so to speak, the closest he'll ever to get a boxing ring again is if he holds the mits for someone in about two years.
Could be a nice retirement with all faculties intact. Could be soup through a straw. At this point no one knows. What is certain is that he will never box again.
Adonis Stevenson is in a medically induced coma with all signs looking bad. The news is not good at the hospital. It is obvious he will never box again. I feel for him and his family and wish them all the best.
Maybe you have info we don't have, but the media in Quebec city now say that his condition is now stable, stable bad, but stable, which is better than saturday night.
He has stabilised, and is not in intensive any more, but the signs are not very positive. It is early days, so it could maybe not be as bad it may be. Unfortunately, he will never be able fight again.
I am just hoping he makes a full recovery or at least a very good one so he can still enjoy the fruits of his labour and his family for years to come, if he were to somehow return to the ring that would truly be the greatest comeback in history.
