Whats not to like about Cotto seriously?

His competition has been week. Judah, and Malignaggi are good fighters and those are good wins. Beating Mosely would be a good win. I don't wanna hear **** though about Quintana or Torres or Maussa. For far too long the guy was fighting nothing but setups. I'll give team Cotto credit though, they've put him in with legit threats his last fight as well as his upcoming fight.

How are Cotto's fans a reason to dislike him? Between Hatton, Cotto, and Mayweather fans, I think Cotto fans are the most reasonable.

Hatton fans think he is better than what he is b/c he beat a washed up Tsyzu and Castillo. They think he can beat Floyd, while failing to realize he nearly got beat by a B/C level fighter in Collazo. They will talk all kinds of **** about John Ruiz, but say Hatton is Great.

Mayweather fans seem to think he is the greatest of all time although he has NEVER defended one of his titles since moving up to 140. They actually believe he has done all he needs to do in his career to be considered an ATG. They actually believe they can argue that he is better Robinson and Leonard, when in reality, he has not fought any one of special note since stepping up to 140 besides an old DLH. You may be able to rank him as an ATG at 135, but nothing else. I will say he is the best today though so far, but he has not fought a young, hungry fighter. If he fights the winner of mosley/cotto and maybe kermit or williams later, he will silence everyone.

Cotto fans admit his flaws, but simply point to his strengths. We dont say things like a fighter isn't even in the same stratosphere like floyd would have his blind fans to believe. Cotto fights anyone his teams puts in front of him. Cotto fans want him to fight the best win or lose. We know he is not the best boxer out there. We just think that his strengths will allow him to be the best fighter. He may not be as talented as Floyd, but he has all the tools to beat him, moreso than anyone else.

 

Floyd has nothing to do with this thread, and you're statement doesn't even make sense

As far as Cotto's resume that someone brought up...Of course his resume is not as good as Floyds, but ask yourself this Floyd fans. Has Cotto ever taken a step down in competion outside of a mandatory. Every fight Cotto has fought has been a step up in competition except for maybe Urkal. Whereas your boy floyd has not fought top competition each fight. Every fight Cotto is in nearly, there is a huge amount of people that claim Cotto is going to lose. When floyd fights, we all know he is going to win b/c he is fighting scrubs half the time with the exception of DLH and Zab. Bruseles, Gatti, Mitchell, are you serious.

Let's not play the "he lost so he doesn't deserve a fight card". Cotto just fought a guy coming off two losses(bad losses at that) and a year layoff. Margarito is still a worthy challenger. I have no problem with Cotto fighting Shane instead though

 

Deserving has nothing to do with title shots. Hasn't for many years now. As fans, we can just hope for the best and most entertaining fights available.

Margarito vs. Cotto would be a great one.

 

Fighters always have something to prove to somebody. However, boxing is a sport that you can't retire from too early. And say what you want about Floyd, the guy always fights a smart fight.

 

My bad fellas, I didnt mean that Marg didnt deserve a fight with Cotto. I just mean he doesnt deserve one right now. There is no way Marg should be in there right now rather than Mosley. So I retract the words "doesnt deserve".
Margarito is simply towards the bottom of the list right now. Cotto should be looking at Mosley, then Mayweather. Afterwards, it's pretty much wide open depending on those outcomes. Let's say he wins both

Then he can fight Margarito, Kermit, Williams, etc..
