What's Paul McCloskey doing?

He turned down Matthysse? Didn't know that. Bad move. He's probably low in confidence. Maybe realises world level is too hard.

I think people on here are being a bit harsh,Paul's a good honest pro maybe not world class but probably still the best jr ww domestically and in Europe.The last guy he fought Manuel Perez was ranked fairly highly and Paul beat him handily without even getting out of first gear.

Paul should try get the European title back and rebuild from there,its not over yet for him look at Fraudley Harrison ffsk he's got more fans on here than anyone and the guy is a joke.

Boxing fans can be so fickle sometimes.

With a record of 18-7-1 id expect McCloskey to win fairly handy considering hes not really fighting much, on the domestic argument have you seen the British jr ww rankings ? Probably the weakest division in Britain just now.

 

dont think so, id say it was more of a case of well im defo gonna lose that one and then there will be truly NO coming back and retirement is imminent, so he probably thought he can still make it back to somewhere close to where he was by avoiding matthysse

he has been deluded for a while paul mc, he thinks he is far better than what he actually is and i think he thought his career was gonna be all glitz and glamour at the top when infact he is getting knocked out by lads 10 years past their prime

 

I wasn't saying Perez is great but at least he was ranked and not some Latvian bin man.And yes I agree the jr ww division isn't great but id still pick Paul over the likes of Daws,Theophane and Hamilton.

Anyway I wish him all the best whatever he decides to do.

 

He didn't do himself any favours with the "cheated not defeated" nonsense. And his fans were jokers too!

he has looked utterly ****ing woeful in his last few fights, and its been almost a year since the corley fight! (hard to believe that its been a year since froch bute too)

he ditched john breen by text and joined checa I think, but hes pretty much finished based off his last few performances, his reflexes have gone

Didnt know he turned down lucas either,strange match anyway.I think a sense of reality is needed last year he was chasing juan manual marquez.

I never liked paul as a fighter but i really enjoyed watching him turn around(tight decision)a points deficit against bredeis prescott.That night he showed when he is confident,he can fight with style and heart.

I expect him to return low key on next frampton headliner
