What's Paul McCloskey doing?

After he destroyed Lynes I thought he'd do well, unfortunately it's just gone wrong for the lad.... some questionable career decisions haven't helped.

It wasn't Breen's fault that he didn't really go 100% against Khan, or get his arse well and truly beat by Shot Shot Corley.

 

I don't know I think that was there gameplan.

McCloskey gets a pathetic amount of hate on this forum. Absolutely pathetic. He's a nice bloke too. What the **** has he done to any of you? Got cut in a fight? Got hurt by Corley? What a prime candidate for mockery. And he got cut by Khan! ****ing Khan! Arguably the most unpopular guy on these forums!

McCloskey isn't well liked for a few reasons.

A. His style is usually boring.
B. He's fell short in every big fight he's had (at world level anyway).
C. He moaned for ages about being robbed in the Khan fight when it was clear he was getting battered and was never going to win.
D. He apparently dumped his long time trainer by text message and blames him for his losses. Bitchy thing to do.

He's getting on in age and he was only ever Euro-level at best. He'll never fight again at world level now. He's likely too old and he's already blew his chance. If we ever do see him again it will likely be on some Frampton undercard against some no mark just to beef up ticket sales. He won't ever make another run at a title because Hearn it seems has lost faith in him.

He seems a nice guy in interviews so the pure hate he gets is unnecessary. For me he's a fighter who it's just not worth believing in anymore sadly but don't abuse the guy for ****'s sake.

 

He's losing 5 lbs so Eddie can get him in there with Ricky Burns.

His brain is incredible after all.

 

He had eye trouble and an operation on it in december I think and was meant to be back in march or something like that but got put back.

 

Around the time he fought Lyons he really did look like he was world class, any hype for him back in the day was seen as justified because he looked great on so good every time he fought on RTE. It started to all go down for hm after he struggled with Lauri. I think iut was a combination of his aging (you need to have top notch reflexes to fight with his style) and the step up in class at European level. Now I think he'd be lucky to win a European title again.

 

The whole Khan incident really didn't help, i can't remember him getting much abuse before that.

 

What pisses me off bout him is the attitude
Did **** all to earn shot v khan then when dean byrnes name is brought up to fight him he blanks the idea after the lad was hard done by v carson jones while hes recently been bbeaten well by well past his sell by date corley
