i have just read his biography .its not abad read and it gives you quite agood insite into Lewis too. Maloney seems to have achieved quite alot as a manager and now a promoter.
I think Maloney is ok he loves boxing he is hand on - in the gym - interacting with fighters he is a character - remeber all them flashy union jack outfits at the Lewis fights Maloney talks alot of sense he was once brief business partners with Frank Warren - or at least worked for Warren but has also worked indenpdently of that - and worked with top fighters like Lennox Lewis and David Haye - two very similar fighters in lots of ways - who are also independent of Frank Warren and who have also achieved WBC/WBA titles in their weight class - and shunned the cheaper WBU / WBO route - even though of course Haye claimed the WBO title as a novelty prize when he thumped out Enzo Maccarenelli in two rounds Maloney brother as well - Eugene is it? He has that fight factory place I honestly feel Maloney never did it for just the money - boxing is in his blood and he loves it all
I think he's pretty good. He makes interesting fights. Him and Warren are good, in their own ways. Warren will make you (and himself) a stackload for minimal risk, which he tends to milk admittedly, but if you are good enough he'll make big fights eventually, and has the influence. As we saw with Calzaghe. Hennessy is junk, and his fighters rot.
I really like Maloney. The guy does his best to promote domestic talent and usually offers up worthwhile undercards to the fans to see. Also he is the only promoter to fights on around yorkshire so without him my live fight days would be over.
Good promoter. Pretty disingenuous at times and has done himself no favours in the past with his seige mentality, but compared to most promoters he looks like a saint.
yeh i saw a documentayr about him, thinks its on youtube somewhere, he seems to make a decent living. seems to generally care about his fighters like Johanesson to.
I was going to fight out of fight factory when I first turned pro... I agree with above he seems pretty genuine, it makes me laugh when I see Warren and Maloney together - I always think of Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh This content is protected This content is protected
