135 version of Mosely was a ****ing wrecking machine. He took huge risks in his career fighting pretty much everyone. People argue that so and so has a great resume but i have to say Mosely has a massively underated resume. He fought Forrest and Winky when nobody wanted a piece of them. You will notice both of their names absent on De la Hoya's much lauded resume(still awesome don't get me wrong).
Mosley is a pretty unique boxer. . . He developed his own style, self-entitled "power-boxing", in which he was essentially a puncher masquerading as a boxer/puncher. . . Not a very high punch output, but each punch was thrown with spiteful intent. He definitely had a unique blend of speed, and power, coupled with a fun style to watch. At 135 he was an absolute monster. . . No telling how many more wins he could have piled up there, before being drawn into a money fight with Oscar. . . Lets break down his career post 135: DLH 1: Close, but clear victory for Mosley. . . Solid wins, over solid, top 10 type guys like Diaz, Stone, and Taylor. Ultimately these guys just had skill levels comparable to upper-echelon type journeyman, though. Still solid contenders. Vernon Forrest 1 and 2: What can ya say? Forrest came out and whipped his ass form pillar to post. . . PUNISHED Mosley. . . DLH 2: Probably the lowest point in Mosley's career; not only did he use roids, but he got soundly outboxed by Oscar, and god knows how he god that decision. WInky Wright 1, and 2: Mosley's kryptonite part deux. . . As opposed to a rangy puncher, he got his ass whipped by a rangy boxer with the one of hte best 1-2's of his era. . . Also with one of the tightest defensive guards of his era. No shame here, considering Wink was natural 154, and Mosley is useless at the weight. Vargas 1, and 2: Mosley proves where he belongs at 154 with these solid wins. . . He'll pretty much always beat a guy who is a brawler first, boxer second, and can't match him in the speed department. Back to 147 against Luis Collazo: Absolutely shuts down a solid boxer/puncher. Once again proving he is world class. Miguel Cotto: This was perceived as Mosley's "last stand". . . Left it all in the ring, and just got slightly outpunched by a world class boxer/puncher who was younger, and hungrier than Mosley. VERY close fight, though. Once again,, just can't deal with a solid jab, though. Mayorga: Close fight, but Mosley saves his shot at another money fight with the last second KO. . . Proving his punch is still very much there at 147. Margarito: BACK ON TOP! *or so most thought*. . . Really, just exposed Margarito as useless without his plaster. . . ANd showed he'll ALWAYS be able to beat a face first brawler who isn't as fast as him. Mayweather, Mora, and Manny is still recent - you all know. . .
Nice post, well thought out. But I'm going to be a ***** and point out that you skipped his Collazo fight
Lol. . . Yeah, don't expect anybody to read that. . . Basically this: Mosley had a unique style. . . Rare blend of speed/power, especially at 135 where he was a monster. At 147/154 his kryptonite was: Outside, rangy puncher with better power, or a very solid boxer/puncher with an incredible jab, 1-2, and high-guard. Proved he's world class, but not quite that "special" world class boxer. . . Definite Hall of Famer.
I squeezed it in there! Lol, it was just hard to see. . . "Back to 147 against Luis Collazo: Absolutely shuts down a solid boxer/puncher. Once again proving he is world class." Thanks for the props, though man! Also thanks for reading my post! I put a lot of thought, and effort into it!
Sorry! I re-watched Mosley - Mayweather last night; and realised just how big the difference was between that, and the Sugar who fought ten years earlier with Oscar :-(
You picked the Bulls! :tong They look horrible :-( I'll stick to British delicacies; Fish and chips, Sweet and Sour chicken, Tandoori chicken, etc :yep
Yeah, his style of typing is a dead give away, but this made it even more unquestionable to me... Pretty sure his alt was created around the same time he got exposed.
