I miss: -No PED's in boxing -Newspaper coverage -Ring, World and International Boxing and Boxing Illustrated -15 rounds -active schedules -The 11 weight classes from my youth -one champ in every division -TV coverage -and last but not least, fight night with my Pops
Yes! I might actually get more interested in Divisions below Heavyweight. I have some interest now and will watch if lower weight division boxing is on, but I will not pay extra to watch them.
That last one of yours is hands down number one for me. Nothing better than watching the fights with my dad. I lost him back in 99'.
Oh, man, I know what you mean. It made fight night an event. To sit there BS'ing with him about this fighter, that fighter, a lousy decision, how the fight unfolded and when the next card was. It was always something to look forward to and amazing now looking back how we took it for granted. Miss those days.
Something not mentioned yet; How about no more "homer" announcers. Geez, hardly tough to tell who the house fighter is with these announcing teams. Be nice to see some impartiality
Now that is definitely something that has vanished in the haze. WBC and WBA. Nothing else, I'd settle for that.
The ESPN crew is especially bad with this. They are so biased in their commentary, that sometimes it's just better to just hit the mute button. They kind of take away the enjoyment of the event. I've seen many people commenting on forums like this who've said similar.
