My best friend got his frist Amauter coming up in a few days, Small Tri-City tournment going on, i was gonna be in it until i blow my knee, but i wanna know some good words to give my best friend... Any Amauter Fighters got some good advise?
Try to control urself, dont swing windmills...I've seen too many amaturs go out and just throw bombs w/out any thought or reason...just go out there keep ur hands up and chin down, look for openings and USE UR JAB!!!
Stay calm. In any sport, the calm, focused pro beats the wild adrenaline/emotion-fuelled player far more often than not. Take the other guy's free shots away. Again, this is the same in many sports. In cricket, if the batter knows that you are going to bowl 5 good balls and 1 **** one per over, he will cover up, wait for the bad one, and smack it. That's all he needs to do to keep on top of you. Same in boxing. Give him 2 free shots per round by leaving your chin hanging out, hands low, backing straight up etc, and you now have to fight twice as well to get back to evens. Also, everything flows from the jab. Jab, move in, three fast, crisp punches, out before effective retaliation begins. Do that 5x per round and he'll be hard-pressed to lose the fight. :hat
-Dont have any sex at least a week before the fight -get alot of sleep -anything to relax you and relieve any stress (reading, praying, music, walking). The day of my first rournament I read The Name of the Rose, took a long walk, worked up a sweat in the locker room, prayed, drank two red bulls 20 minutes before the fight, and was very successful but watch out cafeine can make you tense and one tracked. -light arobic excercise when you get up the day of the fight will give more lung capacity that night. -I like to do long but very light exercises two hours before the fight to get hand eye coordiination, anything to get the brain and reflexes functioning. -put wild rice, sweet potato, oats, kellogs all bran, apple, berries, carrots, and any vegetables you have around, orange juice in a blender and eat it twice a day. I also eat alot of fish and chicken but make sure its well digested before fight or sleep. -Unless you really feel confident in bulldozing the guy just innitiate good jabs and slip punches the firt half of the first round. I took a lot of hooks my firsts rounds cause I was all offense. -Oh and keep your stomach tensed at all times and control breathing
Arent you the guy who was 17-0-1 12KO's?. LoL whats your record now homeboy? You sound unstoppable, your "friend" should just ask you for advice since you got all the experience, never losing and all. So you were suppose to be in it but you blew your knee huh?:think I have another question for you: Why does everything you post seem to be made up? BTW, stay calm and use your jab, make sure it connects to the head everytime and youll win. Oops I mean your friend. Good luck to him:bbb EDIT: I am always nervous the day of the fight, light aeorobic excercise does work. I usually dont skip and just jog a little bit before I enter the venue where the fight is and where my nerves usually boil. Hope that helps ya.
Show up in shape, its the deciding factor in almost every fight between two beginners, and its totally up to you.
