What's the best argument against FMJ being the greatest?

I respect everything what you've written. But why would have made the point that Floyd retired undefeated and that Greb didn't?

    How's that relevant?

Greb died at 32 yet he'd fought 300 times.

    Floyd fought 50 times.

Greb fought an extra 250 bouts.

Yes, he was obviously heavier than Floyd. But they were similar in stature. Greb was only 5'8 with a 71" reach. Those are the same as Floyd's measurements.

Greb had an amazing career and lived in a completely different world. He took risks that Floyd would never have dreamt of taking.

There's tons of names too. Willie Pep, Sugar Ray Leonard, Benny Leonard, Joe Gans, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore ect.

The narrative of Floyd not fighting the best, which has definitive truth to it, conveniently leaves out the fact the competition he was beating was still very good. He completely schooled the FOTD, for his own era, AND THE NEXT ONE. It's literally ATG stuff, only haters think otherwise.

Floyd clearly had heart, he just had a way of fighting which meant he didn't often show it. Take the first Castillo fight, he was injured and out-weighed by 20lbs, yet still managed to win (even controversially) and then immediately took a rematch where he sensationally tooled him.

The Augustus fight is the most entertaining I've seen from him. He wasn't often in wars, you're right.

300*, the numbers on Boxrec aren't updated, I suggest looking at their tally when you search them, or if they have more than 100 fights, looking for the number above the pages.

Well that was a huge shock at the time. But many greats of the past have been knocked out by much lesser fighters.

Aye, but rarely in the prime, and almost never in 1.

U.S. fighters very rarely have to travel.

Their circumstances are different to non based U.S. fighters.

Ali was great. But he loved the attention.

    He loved his European tour.

He didn't need to travel though.

Most U.S. based fighters don't need to.

    Thanks.

    That just furthers my point.

How can anyone say that Floyd was undefeated but Greb wasn't?

It's just an irrelevant point to make.

Nobody would be undefeated had they have amassed 300 fights by their 32nd birthday.

    Yes, it's very rare.

If you look at Nunn and Kalambay's careers, that was an anomaly.

    Bizarre really.

Greb actually went 45-0 in 1919 anyway.

Yeah, perfect punch from Nunn. I've read a theory that it actually harmed Nunn's career almost as much as Kalambay's.

FMW because of his CV and no zero will always be a ATG. But he came at the
right time and had he fought in a few yr earlier in the no nonsense ODH era and
fought when prime Mosely, Forrest , Trinidad ,Vargas , Quartey, Mayorga ,
Spinks he would have not gone unscathed and still have that zero on his CV.

    You'd put Armstrong above Floyd?

No argument from me, I'm a big fan of what I've seen from Armstrong, just wondering your reasoning?

Is Armstrong>Mayweather jr the consensus on this forum?
