Gatti Dorin...was beautiful to watch in slow mo. Castillo Hatton didn't impress me that much, Castillo was hurt but could have got up and just decided not to.
I remember watching Fernando Montiel moving up to Super Flyweight to de-throne WBO champ Pedro Alcazar. Alcazar died the next day from an unrealized brain injury, but all that I can remember from that fight are Montiel's crunching bodyshots. Damn, they were hurtful looking.
'he told you this?' yeah, he and De La Hoya were joking about both their dives at the blackjack table...
IBF Cruiserweight champion Glenn Mcrory got stopped by a very solid body shot wayyyy back by Jeff Lampkin losing his title in the process.... Jones v Hill was indeed the best timed bodyshot i ever saw... I thought the body shot that contributed to the first knockdown of Mike Spinks by Mike Tyson was very well placed too.. I remember Carl the truth Wiliams finishing a large Mike Gans off with a great body double shoeshine combo in the 80's.....
Castillo subsequently found out that he had three/four broken ribs - Hatton was hitting him with bodyshots all night long, and hurt him with the one immediately prior to the shot which sent him packing. He could probably have gotten up, but the ref wouldn't have allowed him to continue. If he had, he would have been straight back on the canvas for another ten count. People make out that Castillo was shot to bits - he was shot, but not as bad as people like to believe. It wasn't like PBF-Gatti at all - Hatton was winning clearly, however.
Definitely Margarito's liver shot on Kermit Cintron. You open up with your right in close and then sneak that left hook in as you check that your opponent's arm is not protecting his body. Hatton's on Castillo was also aesthetically very good, moves in for the kill downstairs and right behind the defense and the ribs. Basically, all of JCC's and Mike McCallum's shots to the body were perfect in balance, accuracy and technique, they didn't call the later the "Body Snatcher" for nothing!
nice vid. the commentators missed it but the body shot that really started it all was landed at about 2:33 or 2:34 into that video. Then Jirov lands another one at almost the same place a few seconds later and the fight is done.
