I find the last few times I've sparred, I've either been really stomach sick beforehand or just really stiff in the waist.

    Any pointers?

Sounds more like nerves than a warm-up issue.

eh not this last time. I genuinely needed to take a bad ****.

I actually have had back stiffness pretty much since forever, am looking for ways of loosening that up some.

Try skipping some rope lightly, shadow boxing lightly, and of course stretching...make like a couple minutes on a stationary bike if you guys have one. Good luck.

  7. Personally it was always the same at my gym, arrive, maybe go run, jump rope, shadowbox, circuit stuff like bodyweight work, then either padwork or bagwork, then last of all was sparring, so you were already pretty well warmed up lol. Personally I would rather not spar at the end of an already long session but thats how it was.

Yea I hate sparring last but that's also how it typically is. You're already kinda tired, it's hard to learn and work on stuff when your body begins shutting down some.

Plus you get your ass kicked a little more than usual.

    That is nerves man.

Skipping rope and some light shadow Boxing should do it.

Stretch, jog/skip, maybe go on bags or pads to sharpen up a bit before sparring, thats all you need really. If nervous beforehand just control your breathing and mentally motivate yourself for example think in your mind "im fit, im strong, im going to go in, spar well, be sharp, use good movement and throw good shots".... and this should work.

If I know I'm sparring that day (like I will tomorrow) I'll stretch, jump rope 3-4 rounds pretty lightly, shadow box a couple of rounds (focusing on technique, definitely not wearing myself out). Just enough to get a sweat on and feel loose.

Do NOT stretch until your workout is over. At least no isometric static holding stretches.
