His style is boring. Jab, jab and grab. It's like Froch said "... when you get beat against Ward, you don't feel like you have actually been beaten. You feel like you've been pick-pocketed". There are two reasons why he refuses to fight outside not only the State of which he resides but also his home country. Basically, he won't sell any tickets because every fight he is involved in is a boring yawn-fest. Also, he gets the home town decision in California, just in case the score cards are very close. I just re-watched his fight with Kessler and if you think he won that fight than I bet you're black or shall I rephrase that "African-American" what ever the **** that means I don't know unless you're half African and half Native-Indian that is. But that's a separate debate all together. To sum up what I'm saying, you yanks are full of ****.
You might find him boring, but the "big deal" is obviously that what he does is effective. Look at the K brothers, they hardly bring the house down during there fights do they. But they use there capabilities to the maximum and get the "W" time and time again.
He doesn't grab, he stays on the inside with his footwork. Its not his fault the guys he fights cant do **** on the inside. He is one of the greatest inside fighters I have ever seen.
Ward has a great resume. Froch, Kessler, Dawson, Abraham, Bika, Miranda, Green. All were dominant. He's a great fighter...
lol no. you must be be full of **** too. theres no way kessler beat ward, ward out boxed kessler and made him look like a clown. and if you cant see that then i bet your a brit who DKSAB
Last I looked, I'm not black, (100% white bread) 'n Ward took Kessler apart like a cheap watch. Ward's not scintillating or a home run hitter, but he's the best in-fighter in the business. Look again how he dismantled 'n neutered Froch -- a beast with other fighters.
He needs to leave Oakie. Used to be the case if you wanted to make it as a boxer you had to go to the States. Times have changed. If Ward wants to make a name for himself, he has to cross the pond and face the Man of the division, the cash cobra of the division, and do it in the Home of 168, the UK. They could sell out Nottingham football stadium and half the crowd wouldnt even know the headbutting Irishman's name
That's it right there. That's why fundamentals like footwork matter as well. Many fighters, including Froch, can't fight for a damn on the inside. They need space or they are completely useless. Froch is just a cry baby because Ward took his soul, seriously. He had no answers and was getting punished on the inside. Froch got taken to boxing school, he needs to shut the **** up.
He's a lineal champ and in modern boxing there's still a fair few divisions without one. That makes him a big deal for me.
My favorite thing about how Ward fights is how he interrupts his opponent. Whatever it is that they think they're about to do, Ward interrupts them. It's as if he watches the opponent decide on a course of action and then at some point between decision and execution they get punched unexpectedly in the face and he circles away or instead grabs and turns them and then as the opponent accedes to the clinch, he pushes them away and smacks them up again and lets make it a combo this time into the bargain. It's like they never ever get to do what they want to do and they get more and more frustrated and discouraged which in turn makes it easier for Ward and so on... It's beautiful :thumbsup.
