someone explain because i don't think anyone matches floyd technically or defensively(if that makes sense).
No, but there are those that are stronger and fitter. There is certainly no one below MW that I would make a favorite against him, but the perhaps best way to beat Floyd is through educated pressure. That's how Castillo did beat him in their first fight (even though Floyd probably wasn't at his best that night). Maidana also had some success with that approach. It isn't easy, though. You need to have skill - jab, feints, footwork - as well as persistence, strength and fitness. GGG would likely do it, but he is of course significantly bigger. Also, I'd very much like to see Floyd against a fighter that surpasses him in speed and reach. Khan is probably faster, which makes that a somewhat interesting fight, but he has about the same reach. ***y Sergio would have been a very interesting opponent a couple of years back. Looking historically, the rangy, fast and powerful WWs like SRR, SRL and Hearns might certainly have had the "blueprint". As might the marauding pressure slickster that was Duran in Montreal. Floyd is certainly one of the most skilled WWs ever, but there have been others with more imposing physical assets. At 130 he was very much the complete package, though.
Andrade would give Floyd a good fight. He's a tall, rangy, fast southpaw with a good jab and can box.
that's probably the most unbiased and educated thing i have ever heard on this site. people normally just state unrealistic speculations without even regarding what floyd would bring to the table. i salute u
Simple. As well as physical strength, skills and power, you need to bring the versatility, and ADAPTABILITY that he brings.
Terence Crawford showed he could adapt in the Gamboa fight. Plus, Floyd's never fought a switch-hitter.
I think Floyd won the first Castillo fight by a few points. Didn't you say recently you haven't watched much of the 60s welterweights?
Ragdoll him in the clinch. Anticipate his escape routes and be ready with a quick or at least well-timed ambush move to hedge them off. Nobody has successfully done it, at least in the pros, but all just common sense.
There are many WWs that I haven't watched, so that is always a bit of dangerous statement that I made. But I have seen SRR, Mantequilla, , SRL, Benitez, Curry, Pea as well as the DLH, Mosley gang that wasn't half bad, either. If you feel that there's someone with better skills than those that I have to take into the equation, I'll give him a look for sure.
Floyd is a special fighter and its not just a blueprint that will beat him, it will take another special fighter with a blueprint and that would be pressure, rhythm breaking and off rhythm punching, some speed, power wont hurt and attitude is a must....a prime Roberto Duran, SRL, Hearns would be too much for him and a good even match-up would be Floyd vs Chavez
IMO, people need to get rid of the ridiculous idea that Khan is going to beat Floyd, or trouble him for longer than a couple of rounds.
