Because the way Haye gets slated for doing his thing, and nobody bothers to mention Pavlik doing pretty much the same despite the fact he's not-undisputed, is puzzling to me. Probably classic american great-white-hope bullcrap but anyone care to offer their input?

oh and please give up on the joe called out kelly and then got the willies after kelly dispatched of gary lockett, that's stupid. Joe clearly saw that kelly pavlik is a young up-and-coming and mentioned this in many interviews, but when bigger fights come up in the meantime of course he's going to take them (hopkins and jones > pavlik in terms of $£$£$£) , this sport is about money firstly, then entertainment. JC's saying "kelly aint worthy" is just typical boxer/promoter smack talk to stir resentment with the fans; and it did a mighty fine job too.

I agree there has been an overeaction to Hay'e media tactics.

They are standard, as is the undisputed #1 from a lower weight getting straight in with a champion at the weight above.

The fact that Calzaghe spent a year and more mentioning Pavlic is the difference. Wlad didn't even know who Haye was until a month or so ago and he started accosting him in supermarkets...

I don't recall Calzaghe calling Pavlik out for a year, perhaps I am mistaken.....

Calzaghe has ducked people before so people are waiting for him to do it again, hence why Pavlik is allowed free reign to say what he wants.

Wlad is fighting the best opposition available to him (generally) even though they are all **** - Haye is the new kid on the block therefore people would like to see him beat a couple of heavies first.

I don't see why - it is the biggest fight out there for either of them :deal

what did I say? give it a rest. it's churlish. joe may have mentioned kelly pavlik in a few interviews over the course of one year, but to suggest he had some sort of vendetta is just....ugh I cant even be bothered! there's no way that anyone would've dared to say that Calzaghe picked the weaker man in choosing Kessler last year. KP has suddenly become a greek god this past year....it's gei.

Dawson, Tarver.... etc are all more competitive fights then RJJ. Pavlik just happens to be a p4p prime top ten man at the moment. That's why a lot of people want this fight. Others may well cause Joe more problems...

That doesn't make any sense, though, even if it's true. JC doesn't govern KP's actions.

I think the difference is that Pavlik is just doing what most challengers over the years have done and is doing it with dignity and respect where Haye is just an arrogant, cocky *****.

Nothing is different except Haye will suck at HW, while Pavlik won't suck at 168.

I mean that people aren't criticising Pavlik for doing so. If Calzaghe was beating people all over the place easily Pavlik would get stick. As it is, he went close to the edge with Hopkins while Pavlik demolished his stablemate Lockett.

In response to the other poster, Calzaghe has ducked/avoided:

    Sven Ottke
    Dariusz Michalzewski
    Markus Beyer
Robin Reid rematch - yet Veit got one
    Glen Johnson - blatantly

You are having a laugh mate if you really believe he ducked all of them.

That's why the post said DUCKED/AVOIDED

He avoided Ottke & Michalzewski - ducked a Reid rematch when Robin was entitled to one, and the hand injuries were only an excuse for not fighting Johnson
