    Rubbish.

Ottke wanted no part of Calzaghe as he knew he would get taken apart.

If he ducked Reid and Reid was entitled to the rematch the WBO would have enforced it no?

I can't speak for Michalzewski but what is he supposed to do with Johnson fight him with one hand? Personal problems also stopped that one from happening and let's be serious here Calzaghe has fought much tougher opponents you can't really be serious to say he ducked Johnson.

    :thumbsup

Calzaghe couldn't have got more ducky with these two unless he dressed as John Inman and shouted "i'm free". Its no criticism of JC, every fighter in history has avoided other fighters for various reasons..not commercially sensible, **** scared etc.:deal

I'm not a Froch fan at all, otherwise I would have said Calzaghe ducked Froch :patsch

Reid was entitled to a rematch - **** the WBO already the fight should have happened....

Ottke probably didn't want anything of Calzaghe but Joe should have done more to try to get the fight on - then again Sports Network don't allow unification fights until at least ten defences!

Your points are pretty valid ones, but it was Ottke who was announced as the winner - wrongly admittedly.

The transition in weight is much harder.

There is no difference whatsoever. Only Haye is calling out a weaker champion from a crap division, whereas Pavlik is calling out a P4P top 3 in a deep division.

At the end of the day there has been a thousand threads on this. Calzaghe the p4p no 2 should be facing a prime live fighter (possible p4p top 10 guy as well, in Pavlik), instead of near a 40 year old shot to pieces Jones, who is barely a contender in his own division. There are no excuses, and even hardened Calzaghe fans state that he should be fighting a live opponent.

That is partly why Pavlik is getting a break, because he is a very viable opponent and a top ten p4p guy.

Wlad is taking on the best he can, Haye is yet to fight in the heavies. He simply can't face Wlad next because the jump is bigger then Mid to SM.

people just hate Haye cause he's a fast talker who speaks his mind...... that's it

he's the new Mayweather in the eyes of most people on this site....which is pretty ****ing stupid, because people get mad when people (like mayweather) don't chose to fight or attempt to fight the best fighters out there......now you clowns are mad because Haye's a real fighter and simply wants to fight the best fighters in the world?.....people are silly that way though, huh?

anyone who deny's Haye's potential force at heavyweight is blind.....and anyone who deny's the simple facts that are his power, speed, and willingness to fight the best fighters are idiots, plain and simple.........and yes i'm a Haye fan but i don't exactly think he'll be Wladamir, but who cares, because you can't tell me it wouldn't be a good fight

There is no difference. People hating on Haye because he has a set of balls & wants the Challenge of fighting the best man at a bigger weight. Most people on ESB think he's crazy & will lose but so what. Every fighter thinks he'll win every fight he goes into.

People dislike Haye because he speaks his mind.

When he says that he will be too quick and too powerful for most heavies, you would have to be foolish to think otherwise.

The Calzaghe - Johnson saga was a cluster **** no question. Veit got a rematch as he made mandatory twice. No other reason.

Ask yourself this - would you have gone to Germany to have you career raped by corrupt officials? Off the top of my head I can think of three of Joe's opponents that beat Ottke. Joe would have fought Beyer had he beaten Kessler I'm sure but the fact is he got owned by the Viking.

DM? Was he interested in fighting anyone with a name? Was he in the same division? Was there ever any talk of a fight between the two? **** you may as well say Joe was avoiding Tyson.

Beeston -- You're right. It wasn't anything close to a year. More like 5 months, followed by lots of rumors and a period of silence from Joe, followed by Joe's recent statements that he might fight Pavlik after Jones. The basic premise of this thread is wrong. Pavlik's statements have all been in response to Joe calling him out.

I also agree with you on Klitstcho/Haye. Let these boys get it on.

Remember, "Joe can't mention Kelly till after the Lockett fight out of repect for his stablemate"? Maybe getting Lockett the fight was part of the duck? Hmmmm.... I like it.

I agree with the business first perspective but that's so evident that it almost is needless to mention. But what's the difference between Haye to Wlad and Pavlik to Joe? It's the difference between 8 U.S. pounds and 40 plus U.S. pounds... Haye should know he's not stepping up in class but the weight/power difference should be relevant.
