You`ve got to be shittin me You must be very new to this sport if thats the rd you nominate for single greatest rd in history.
There are too many great rds to name just a few so I`ll nominate one & its not really a suprise... there`s a reason why its mentioned all the time... it was that good. Hagler v Hearns rd1 of course.
Ive never been impressed with this fight, some might get hyper because of the KDs but to me its just sloppyness of the highest order.
I would cast my vote for Dempsey Firpo round 1. That was a wild round with Firpo down a large number of times, getting up to knock/push Dempsey out of the ring. Dempsey was down 3 times himself in that round.
Definitely not as dramatic as Barrera-Morales rd5, but besides some great action rounds early in the Pac-Morales fight, when Erik turns southpaw in the last round has to be the most ridiculously macho and bad ass thing ever done in the ring, putting Pac into his proper perspective. For that reason I love that round. Also, the last round of Castillo-Corrales I (10?) was just awesome, too.
I can't remember which rounds specifically of the top of my head, but these fights will guarantee you some quality rounds of action. Thomas Hearns v Denis Andries Azuma Nelson V Jeff Fenech 1 + 2 Denis Andries v Jeff Harding 1 Thinking about it these need viewing again.
Not the greatest round ever, but round 1 is pretty good and needs to be seen : [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrs65JZzMIk[/ame]
It's not the most obscure or original choice, but my genuine favourite round ever is the final stanza of Toney vs Jirov. I could watch it every day. For me, this is boxing perfectly encapsulated and defined in a three-minute period. Action, drama, the triumph of technique over physicality and determination, and Manny Steward screaming "OH MY GOD!!!!" Pure pleasure.
I'd go with Hagler Hearns, but these two are worthy. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ-YunnAqFg[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IupyEYB-27c[/ame]
