Sugar didnt actually physically stop him. it's not as tho Duran was being battered to the point where he quit. so its not a true stoppage
    Hearns physically stopped him

I'm asking a serious question here.....do you really believe what you typed above or is this just for shits and giggles? It's pretty wild how you can continually justify your position like this and not be joking.

Duran fans can make a million excuses on why he quit in the second fight but we dont.
You are making all kinds of excuses for Ray in the first.
Second fight was not some blow out either. Duran was in it. If anything that fight didnt show anything because it was barely half a fight.

Totally serious. I know what I saw and I am pretty good at cutting through the truth on things. He was a great fighter. I already said it, but there were weaknesses. So what. Be able to hear things which might not be what you want to hear. Not everything believe the same thing.

No, the second fight speaks for itself. Ray did outclass him in the second fight yes? And when I mention this you all will go into your excuse mode. Yet Duran had 73 fights when he lost to Ray. He knew the game and had been there for a long time. It showed plenty. A fighter who quits not only when he is being outboxed, but when Ray starts to land Duran turns his back and quits. He actually quit when Ray was landing a body punch. Like I said in the post before this I am totally serious.

I think perhaps Duran saw the writing on the wall. More of the same and he would rather quit than deal with it.

    No he didnt outclass him.
SRL's team knew Duran was partying and was fat as **** after the clear victory in the first fight. I always thought there was no need for a second fight after Duran just did what he wanted in the first fight. But money talks and Ray was a cash cow. His team pushed for the immediate rematch cus Duran was in no fighting shape in between the fights. Ray and his team did this against Hagler too. Waited for Hagler to show his age, bigger ring, etc. They had the power because of Ray's fame. Duran didnt even want to be there from the beginning. Second fight proved nothing. It was basically like Lewis vs McCall 2.

The second fight proved everything, and the third which is sort of ignored now, but in 1989 people were excited enough. Ray had struggled with Hearns and Duran had beaten Barkley.. And then Ray outclasses him again. And yes outclassing. Winning pretty much every round in 1989 also if I remember correctly. I will have to look at the cards again soon. Duran did cut him, so he got that out of it.. Cash cow or not, Duran would not fight Ray again in a close fight? That was a tough fight the first time. He couldn't knock Ray out when Ray was fighting his fight. Again I say look at the two fights side by side-fight one and two. It shows who the variable was. And Duran fought Benitez.. Lost to him, which Benitez hardly gets credit for.. yet Duran beats Moore and gets more credit. Duran gets credit more than most fighters for similar or lesser wins. That is a fact. If you are going to be rated top 5 or 10 all time great, you should have wins over several other elites. Duran does not. One win over and elite, who then turned around and made him quit and beat him 9 years later easily.

    It's an illness.
Must be just terrible dealing with it on a daily basis after all these years.
Rooster just trolls with his Leonard stuff but this guy is really suffering.

That is part of it. Duran quit when Ray was moving and easily beating him. He never experienced anything like that before. He never had anyone beat him up like that anymore.

I really believe it is the truth, and the facts back me up. I don't with this on a daily basis. I don't think about it other than when I am on here because I know the facts. And this is how I believe on the subject. You have to be able to decipher the truth on any subject. This is not about emotions or who you like, and I am subject to that with Hearns a little, but I do think his wins were better than Duran's as a whole. Cuevas, Benitez, Duran, Hill. 3 guys he won titles from in 3 different divisions are Hall of Famers. There were no excuses for him which I bought or say, except that he moved up and down in weight too much which didn't let him get solid at any weight. But I am backed up by some facts on that.. I stand by what I said and there is absolute truth to it. Duran should not have lost so clearly to Ray in the rematch if the first fight was so legit. And the third fight.

I think this is why you guys get upset, because deep down you know there are no real facts to discount what I say. I know it also. You have to know the weaknesses of Duran and that he lost easily to Leonard,Benitez and Hearns. What else can you say? Only excuses and that is what comes out. What are the excuses that he lost easily to Leonard,Benitez and Hearns? He was too small or out of shape, which I showed was not the case. And the excuse then come out, well he beat Moore and Barkley-so he was not too small and out of shape for the lesser guys he beat? That is an excuse exposed. Those guys are not elites. The facts back me up. And if he is top 10 all time great, what got him there? Wins over who? Leonard? Again wouldn't the win have to be against a Leonard who was experienced mentally and physically and shouldn't he have won the rematch, not being outclassed from the start.

These are all great, and I'd do as far to say the Leonard-Hagler fight was great not just because it was a great fight, but because it was controversial.

One could make the argument for Patterson's defeat of Johannsen, Douglas' whipping of Tyson. The latter might have been more of a great upset, but it sure as heck was great for Buster.

I still don't agree with this. Leonard was 100% since before Duran, and I was there: in America he was already being touted as a probable ATG. Duran's beating him, especially as apparent as the victory was (it wasn't anywhere near a shut out, far from it, but Duran just consistently fought and looked like a winner throughout).

I had no faith in Duran beating Leonard at the time, I believe the commentators at the time were pretty stunned as well (though they were at least equally stunned by the relentless ferocity and determination of Duran).

Duran beat one of the greatest fighters of all time when he'd already entered his prime....as I mentioned earlier, Leonard just happened to have a much longer prime than most fighters. Anyone whom watches the Leonard fights preceeding the Duran can see how effortless fighting was to Ray, and that he had a superb understanding of ring generalship early in his career. Sorry, Duran ruled the boxing world that night....even if it is just my lowly opinion.

If there was an ointment for suffering like the above, this place would be even better than it is.
