In honor of an interesting night sparring I'm resurrecting this thread. We did endurance sparring tonight, one person stays in while everyone else rotates in in 60 second intervals. anyways, i haven't been able to spar for about a month cuz of firefighting taking up my time so i was rusty as hell. Our heavyweight banger(same guy i talked about in the first thread) caught me after a jab and gave me my first ever flash knock down and made me bite a piece of my lip off on the inside. I got up right away and a little bit later he caught me again with a good hook that didnt knock me down but had me dizzy. Overall his knock down was the hardest I've ever been hit in my life and the feeling going through my head on the way down was very odd and a little scary cuz i didnt feel myself hit the ground or get back up. i just did it. well anyways when it was my turn to spar the adrenaline was going full bore and made up for the rustyness so i salvaged the night and came back quite well so it ended up being a great learning experience and test of heart. feel free to chime in if you have good stories to tell.
Caught with a beautiful straight right while sparring hard with a guy a bit heavier than me - the real problem though was that it actually impacted pretty heavily on my left eyeball. My vision was pretty ****ed - like my eyes were cross-eyed, but vertically. I finished the round though, thought I'd practise pretending not to be hurt. For about two weeks afterwards, whenever I looked down my left eye was in excruciating pain. I should have gone to a doctor probably, but I dont tend to go to doctors... lucky it wasnt a separated cornea or something. It was quite difficult, especially at work, because I'd forget and look down at the keyboard, or some paperwork, and be struck by the horrible pain of it. Had to learn to look down with my head, not my eyes. The other worst I can think of was actually a bodyshot, right on the solar plexus. I was winded pretty badly and almost fell to a knee, and had to take a breather.
ive had 1 flash nok down by a international but i didnt feeel anything the worst ive been after being hit was a heavyweight who asked to spar me cuz im slippery i went 4 rounds without being touched then i lost concentration got hit n i saw white then black and found my legs wouldnt work so i was lyin on the ropes 2 stop me goin down 4 the second time in my life luckily me coach jumped in 4 me , but i think he would of stopped anyway woke up with a migrain aswell
in my second fight i got caught with a disgusting right hook that seemed to come out of nowhere. i stayed up, but only cause i sorta fell into a clinch on him. i couldn't feel anything or figure out where i was for a few seconds. scary. i finished the fight standing up but lost a really bad descision.
in sparring i got hit by loads of punches to the head, i dint go down or stop and just continued but after my head hurt like hell.
I've been jabbed in/near the eye a few times, it really sucks. I almost felt it hurt again when i read about the powershot on yours. I too, hid it, but it's hard keeping up your defence when you're blinking like a ****** and miss half of what's happening. Did it heal okay all by itself?
Hard to say...but I think the hardest I may have been hit was when I sparred this pro from my gym. First time we sparred I got busy on him and dominated from start to finish. Few weeks later we sparred again and apparently he wasn't happy with his first performance so he fought totally different. He caught me directly on the chin with a full fledged right hand that had me seeing nothing but white light for a good 4, 5 seconds. He was standing right in front of me but I could barely see him, had to dance around for a little bit to shake out the cobwebs. but that was a serious jolt.
Yeah it did, luckily. I wqas still probably an idiot for not getting it checked out though. But, knowing me, if it happens again I'll still not go to the doctor.
I sparred one time with an up and comming pro he hit me a few times in the head but was able to keep myself up. But damn he hit me with a vicious hook to the body i was on my knees couldnt get up because of the pain
In the first round of my last fight I sat down and threw a right hand to the body of a south paw. I pivoted off to right and got caught flush with a left uppercut on my nose. I won the fight by split desicion but i think i got the home vote he was the toughest lad I've boxed yet but I still remain undefeated
the guy had brassy's, and socked me in the back of the head, blacked out then came to my senses in an emergency room ,with a concussion. sucked bad had over 1500 dollars in bills. But i got em back by burnin his house down that sob. never got investigated and i got off clean. haha
