Saw Froch interviewed after his win last night. When the interviewer commented that he was 30 and had to get a move on with his career, Froch answered that he turned Pro at 25 so was still fresh at 30 and had a good 5 years left in him. I know that it is probably different for different individuals, but in general what do you consider to be the ideal age to turn Pro?
impossible to put on a number on it in my opinion. Each fighters body is diferent and you also have to take in to consideration how fast they learn, and when they started their amateur career
I like me those fellers who start young and become Champs by their 25th birthday. 10 years at the top and retire at 35. Start at 21.
It's hard to tell... there's no ideal age IMO, but you should try to achieve as much as you can at the amateurs and then think about turning pro IMO. But I see a lot of people arguing with that. There's no correct answer to the question. If you are winning medals after medals, you should qualify for the Olympics and try to get a medal - for most boxers, winning gold and later a pro world title, the Olympic means MUCH more. But of course if you want to skip the amateur years (I'd still suggest a few years at the amatuers, winning and losing vs. the elite, getting all the great experience is very important), you should turn pro as soon as possible. There's no ideal age. And it also depends on a fighter's style, the more flat-footed, the pure puncher and any kind of awkward style favors the pros. I think achieving something big at seniors between 20-24 and then turning pro - or not able to achieve anything by then might be the ideal time to leave the amateurs and turn pro.
I am going to speculate and say the average range is 20-22 just based on intuition and natural good looks
id say around 23, but depends how fast your promoter moves you one. if you've got frank warren you bettr turn pro at 12 lol
I agree that you cant pick it and say 21 for example! there are many routes one can choose! for example jcc jnr has had very little experience as an amatuer and is building his fighting experience as a pro! on the other hand just because you was a great amatuer does not mean you will be a great pro! everyone is different and has a different story to tell!
