There isn’t one, there are plenty of hard punchers and ko artist that have went the distance quite a few times

It's not about KO percentage, it's about the quality of the fighters you KO. Anyone can KO a bunch of bums.

To me its also guys with the ability to knock fighters out at any moment.

When I think ko artist, the names that come to mind first are Wilder, Jackson, Hearns,Bailey, Hamed etc.
Yet pac for example who has stopped plenty of great fighters would not be a ko artist in my book (maybe at the lower weights).

Tyson didnt stop a lot of great fighters but would be a knock out artist. Lennox did but wouldnt really be considered.
Ko percentage indeed doesnt mean much. Vitali Klitschko has a high ko percentage yet isnt a ko artist.

% is meaningless. As has been stated who can you knock out at world level. Not Uber drivers and CrossFit instructors.

80% seems fair but it is also after they have fought decent fighters and have 20+ fights. You could be 8-0 with 6 kos against bums.

I think its also about the way you score the stoppages, there are many pressure fighters who will grind opponents down with sheer workrate and have a high ko percentage vs fighters like Kendall Holt, Jersey Joe Walcott or James Toney (lower weights) who would score spectacular one punch knockouts in some fights but didn't always take many chances offensively and were somewhat erratic in their performances and thus don't have an impressive ko ratio

Nope, can be much lower. A guy just needs a few KO's at the top level. Or a highlight reel KO at the top 10 level and he will get hyped as a KO artist.

Seems there should be a % thats attributable to that designation.
If you have the power chances are you are not going the distance if you win.
I would say most observers key in on %'s 80 or greater.
I also suspect it varies by weight class. Wilfredo Gomez, Carlos Zarate had high % for a lower weight class, more in line with what a shavers, foreman, wilder, etc. had/have, but clearly not the norm for those weight classes.
    Interesting question..

    Tommy Hearns had a KO% of 71.64%

    Nigel Benn - 72.92%

Even Julian Jackson just scrapes in at 80.33%

Don't think you can just say that if they don't exceed 80% they are not genuine KO artists.

To be a knock out artist you need aswell as a high KO % to also have.

    1. Knocked out people with just 1 punch or 1 combination. You don’t need to land a whole load of punches to stop your opponent
    2. Stopped a number of world class fighters.
