I don't really hold it against Larry like a lot of people do. He had a job to do and did it well. He cried after doing it. That's the thing about boxing, almost nobody gets a happy ending.:verysad

Rag, this does not surprise me. I am such an aficionado of Mexican boxing - normally walking around with 4 or 5 of them on my mind at one time - but the Mexican fan is about the worst. Don't mean to get anyone ticked at me on this one, but just a few instances.

1) Carlos Ortiz - Sugar Ramos I - Ramos is cut and getting worse and ref Billy Conn calls the doctor to check it out. The fans are getting angry and the doc says box on. A little while later Conn calls the doc again, but he refuses to check it out and Conn stops the fight. Conn and Ortiz had to run out of the place and the Mexican commission overrules Conn and says Ortiz has to return to the ring or be stripped. Ortiz refuses and they tell ramos he is the new champ. It doesn't stick and Ortiz gives him a rematch in San Juan. Conn says the fans didn't care how bad the eye was that they just wanted blood.

2) Lionel Rose-Chucho Catillo - fans demolish the Forum when the split decision goes to Rose. Then they take it to the parking lot where they overturn cars. One of them belongs to actor Ray Bolger. An undercard bout has to be terminated and called a NC because the fans were still throwing bottles into the ring during the fight.

3) Hiroyuki Ebihara Efren Torres I - fans cause $150,000 damage to the Olympic when the split decision goes to the Japanese.

4) Frankie Duarte-Famosito Gomez I - split decision goes to Duarte and the fans rip out the stuffing of the chairs at the Olympic and set them ablaze.

5) Romeo Anaya - Enrique Pinder II - Anaya KOs Pinder in 3 and his fans invade the ring while Pinder is still laying on the floor trampling the poor guy.

^I had the pleasure of attending Rafael Marquez versus Mauricio Pastrana, Mexican vs. Colombian. Worse yet, Carlos Hernandez, a Salvadorean, headlined the card. Allowing Salvadoreans, Colombians, and Mexicans to sit next to each while drinking beer and watching their countrymen fight was a recipe for starting a riot.

Not as bad as some of the shocking things described in this thread, but Don King, Jose Sulaiman and Mike Tyson calling a press conference to tell people Buster Douglas had not won the fight (and that Tyson was still world champion) was a pretty disgraceful event.
