Whats the most exciting weight class in boxing right now ? give reasons

Actually if you just watched the lower weights you wouldn't think that boxing is in decline at all.

 

That's the problem though, nobody gives a **** about the lower weights despite all of the very good fighters there.

 

If the lower weights would get the recognition they deserve, Boxing would be pissing all over that UFC ****.

BW has Montiel, Darchinyan, Perez, Agbeko, Mares, Moreno with Donaire joining shortly. FW has John, Lopez, Gamboa, Marquez, Rojas, Caballero, Garcia, Gonzalez, de Leon with Hasegawa joining the mix. SMW took a major hit with Taylor, Kessler and Dirrell though it might have Pavlik shortly. MW is not yet there, on the top there's Martinez, Williams, Sturm and Pavlik, but the new crop is coming, N'Dam, Jacobs, Golovkin, Pirog, Lemieux, Macklin, Guerrero, gonna be awesome.

 

domestically, super featherweight. the amount of english and local boxers at that weight is fantastic, it really is.

on a higher level, super middleweight. degale, groves, smith, froch, bute very good fighters who might be able to take the step to greatness.

but at the top level, it has to be lww. alexander vs bradley, khan vs maidana, and kotelnik fighting everyone inbetween. ortiz and judah surely only one big victory away from a title shot. what a cracking division. especially if any lightweights move up, murray, katsidis, soto, guzman, funeka. it is a division setting a great example to the others.

 

Bantamweight, Featherweight and Light-Welter

 

Right now Cruiserweight, light heavy, and super middleweight are all very exciting.

The main reason is the top contenders in these divisions are fighting each other and we could see unified champs in each division very soon....and then the super middle champ and the light heavy champ will get it on.

 

140.

147 would be if Cotto, Williams, Pacquiao and Margarito hadn't left it (albeit temporarily in some cases).

 

I think it's 140 right now. For awhile I was concerned that the big fights wouldn't happen, but now they are.

Middleweight is the division to watch next year, especially if Pavlik stays there. Martinez, Williams, Pavlik, Sturm, Pirog, and then a bunch of solid contenders and good prospects who just need one breakthrough fight.

 

140 is my favorite division right now with:

Guzman
Peterson
Mabuza
Urango
Marquez and Katsidis might move up as well?

This is a pretty insane division if everyone fights each other.

After 140 I actually like 168 because I think it is very exciting and there is some really good talent there:

Ward
Dirrell
Froch
Abraham
Kessler (maybe retired)?
Bute
Bika
Andrade

Pretty deep and talented. Plus the Super Six really got me interested in this division because there have been some great fights in the Super Six.

I think the Bantamweight tournament might get more people excited about that division because that is certainly as good as these divisions.

 

I like 140...i think the most interesting match ups can be made at 140...i like bradley-khan!
