What's the most weight you've ever had to cut for a fight?

Just curious. From time to time, I would look back at a fight I had in October last year where I had to drop 15 lbs in 6 days (same day weigh in). I then battled it out with a much taller dude to a close, close decision (to give myself some more credit, I would've won it if it were pro scoring). It's one of my most fond memories of boxing.

So yeah, I'd just like to see if what I did was special or not.

15lbs for a same day weigh in is crazy! Not crazy in a good way either. I think the only thing you accomplished was dodging death.

With a same day weigh in you only want to be cutting 1-2lb if anything at all. It's not worth putting your body through the stress for a amateur level fight anyway.

I moved up a weight because i couldnt make my last 1 comfortably (1kg or less above mostly 0.6kg). Cutting weight when you have a few hours to put it back on is supid and reckless.

Wow, if someone told me I had to drop 2 weight classes to fight in 6 days with a same day weigh in, I don't know if I would agree to that. But then again, i am already quite lean. What was your starting weight, if you don't mind my asking?

Regardless 6 days is too short a time to cut 15 lbs safely, prep physically for the fight, and stay hydrated enough to avoid getting gassed and/or knocked out. It's too risky.
I can't imagine any amateur coach supporting that.

Intentionally for a same day weigh in like two pounds. I don't walk around very heavy but I have a hard time losing weight.

Now, training more and losing weight naturally is different. I started on the boxing team at like 125 lbs and in about two weeks I was 114 lbs or so, but that was because of the daily 2-3 mile runs and it was weight I couldn't "gain back" just by eating, my body had catabolized a fair amount of my upper body muscle. It took me a long time and a lot of calories to gain that back as muscle.

Ialso had to cut 15 pounds in 6-7 days, for a same day weigh in. It was for a tournament and I only one match but damn! it was ridiculous. Final 2.5 pounds in the last day. The weigh in was at 7am and my match was not until 1, so I basically ate and drank everything in sight until then. :yep
