Regardless of Kovalev's age or form, it was an impressive win last night. Where does Canelo go from here? I don't reckon he's going to fight top guys at 175 who are all in their primes. Beterbiev, Bivol, even Gvozdyk. I guess he could feast on someone like Marcus Browne or Badou Jack but those guys are out of the picture now. I don't assume he's gonna fight top 168'ers like Smith, Benavidez etc either. He made it clear that he has no intention of fighting Golovkin either. So where does he go from here? I guess Billy Joe Saunders is an option. That's a fairly dangerous fight for Canelo as well. Other options might be Charlo or Andrade. Calen Plant might be another option but I don't think that's likely. Thoughts please
BJS I don't think will happen other wise we would have seen this before now,Plant I could see next for Canelo.
pretty impressive when only the apparent top killers across 3 divisions are not considered cherry picks, the guy is a frickin boss of bosses.
Alvarez: Lara, Mayweather, Golovkin x2, Jacobs, Kovalev, Cotto, Kirkland, Trout, Fielding - Alvarez is already a four weight division world champion and his career is still ongoing at the age of 29. Calzaghe: Kessler and ancient Hopkins
Surprised Canelo also stated he might fight again at 175 since pre fight he had stated that this would be a one off.
thats a hard fight. i would advise him to have beterviev fight on his undercard in may, build him up as a complete monster to the casuals tuning in, then fight him in sept. i would get the 3rd ggg fight done first, which i think would end in ko, then fight the aging beterviev.
Yeah, peak Kessler ices Sugar Ray Leonard and Robinson both in one night too, I’m sure. That’s the level of desperation you hit when your favorite fighter has a joke resume. You end up living in a mythical world where that one name becomes equivalent to 10. Kessler is a good fighter but he’s nothing special. He’s just a very good basic fighter. Let me remind you that Andre Ward had only 20 fights when he clearly beat Kessler.
