Most of the movements for throwing a punch mostly utilize the back and legs (other auxiliary muscles as well, but not pecs) so what's the point in doing pushups/ push up claps/ dumbell press/ etc? Look at floyd he has like zero pecs, but other fighters had some size to em like Jones
explosive power come from press ups and also work you shoulders and arms. but i dont think chest muscles are too important, roy jones probably genetics
The serratus anterior muscle is known as 'the boxers muscle' and it's trained by all those exercises. All your muscles work together, your pecs are still playing a part in movements of your arm. You can't really work your pecs by themselves, you wouldn't be doing any isolation exercises if you're a boxer anyway. Muscle proportion and size is mostly genetic and if someone looks like they have a small _______ muscle they probably have something else compensating for it.
Why not do tricep extensions or something else rather than build unnecessary muscle genius There's a little pec usage when moving your upper arm inward but the hook derives most of its power from the rotation of the torso which is primarily back muscle, and drive from the legs I know what the pecs do. They add unnecessary weight. Good post. While boxing mostly involves compound movements, I think isolations can be well utilized to fine tune weak areas.
Your point ****? What does that say about leg extensions and neck resistance exercises that are often seen done?
you said not to do isolation and then subsequently suggest an isolation exercise; your posts reek of misunderstanding to be honest and your trying to sound cleverer then you are - but thanks for the laugh posters like you make my day go faster! Have a good day but be careful what you do today- you don't want any unessacary muscle growth just tricep extend your way through the day and you'll be ok :good
I'm the one having a laugh here because nowhere did I write that you should not do isolations: in fact I said they were good to fine tune weak areas. What I pointed out in the OP was that the pectorals (NOT THE TYPE OF EXERCISE, THE MUSCLE) don't seem to be an effective muscle group in general when it comes to boxing. Come back to me when you learn how to read. Don't worry I won't expect you back.
