What's the point of Usyk's last fight story?

Usyk fighting and beating Wilder will look good on his resume years from now.

Like how Lennox has Tyson's name on his resume even though Mike was well past it.

It's a statement that he "completed" his era.

No one takes Lewis win over Tyson seriously. It’s there the same way Danny Williams and Kevin McBrides is.

Beating Wilder will reflect more or less the same for Usyk. The difference is that atleast both fighters are past their best.

Just like Lewis did with Tyson, he just wants a name. Worthless fight legacy wise.

To beat everyone who was a champion prior to him and during his initial reign. He beat every Brit, now he's going for the American. He can then say he beat every world champion of the previous era. He really doesn't need Wilder, but in 20 years when no casual remembers the feat, boxing fanatics like us will remember

Plenty of people speak positively about Lewis' win over Mike. It's always brought up when discussing his resume.

To be fair though, I think the legacy thing isn't first on Usyk's list of reasons for fighting Wilder. Numero uno would be getting a big fight in America so he builds his profile over here. Second would be money. We see the rigamarole going on over Turki trying to force Fury/AJ to be in NYC. Fighting America's only semi-high profile HW in America would get the money men on board. And then after all of that it's Usyk just cleaning up his era and keeping his promises. Long before he ever got to HW he told everyone he was going to take the skulls of AJ, Fury, and Wilder. In fact, Wilder was the first name out of his mouth. So clearly it's important to him and that's really all that matters.

And there ain't another name out there that would matter more legacy wise. Kabayel is a nobody and he'll remain a nobody. Moses already flamed out spectacularly and proved Usyk right. So much for that being a name he needed, plus he'd never get credit for beating Moses that early in Moses' career anyway. There's no one left in the boxing landscape that would be a giant pelt to put on his wall for future historians. So he's gonna go get the scalp of the last guy of his era. Simple.

Wilder would need a Moorer - Foreman style KO if he ever fought Usyk. Wilder is completely washed IMO

Whilst obviously not the best Tyson, that is a silly statement

Bookies in the UK had Tyson quite the favourite still to which I remember cashing in on

I wish he would just fight Kabayel. Who cares if he isn't massive in America? He probably will never be big in America unless he spent his whole career here.
