What's the real reason boxing has declined in the US and there are less top level guys from the US?

Boxing is just more of a global sport now. If it was as global as it is now from the 60’s on... past American greats records and rankings would look WAY different. Lol Way more L’s on their resumes.

Wilder :pipi, he's never taken any risks. The only time he nearly came unstuck was against an under-cooked Fury

Global expansion is the obvious reason, a lot of pro sports were colonial driven and based, look at tennis, used to be dominated by Yanks and Aussie's until it became more global.

    Imo...

    1. Rise of popularity of NFL.
    2. Rise of popularity of MMA.
    3. Resulting in a decline in local boxing gyms around the country.

Yup, even soccer used to be dominated by Brits and Uruguayans/Hungarians before it became more global.

It kind of does. If age wasn't a factor then Marciano is the #1 heavyweight in history since he beat Louis, Walcott, Moore, Charles. But most people take into account that those versions were getting on in years.

Football is still massive here though, despite its outward expansion. Boxing, particularly since Joshua lost, is becoming something of an ultra-niche sport. They show darts on prime times TV here. I can't even remember the last time boxing had that.

In regards to the OP, and speaking in regards to the UK, I suppose it depends what you're addressing. Boxers or fans of boxing?

For the latter I'd argue it's to do with the litany of belts, politics that see fighters avoid each other and corrupt decisions.

Why do you think that boxing has declined? If it has declined then why there are more number of boxers today than in the past?

    All of the above.

Fifteen years ago there was one full time MMA gym in the central business district in my hometown - now there's four and all of them thriving.

Mostly its people going pro from nations that used not go pro.

The Eastern Bloc and Cuba for example.

America is still the strongest single nation.
