As a boxing fan I loved that fight, If your fighter is going to be "ruined" by one loss, once again as a fan I would rather it happen early, rather than see a 30 win undefeated record against limited (read no chance) opponents.
That way of brining a fighter along leads to fighters like Ortiz, who steamrollers weak opponents and the first time he gets into a tough fight quits. Which in my opinion does a disservice to the fans watching and the boxer himself.

I'm an Angulo fan, he's fights a tough, come forward, aggressive style.. that said Cintron was a bad choice, they banked on Cintron being shot and chinny, and thought since they had a Margarito-type fighter in Angulo that they could do the same thing Tony did to Kermit... except Antonio (despite all the haters) is a lot more well rounded then Angulo is right now. Tony had a lot of experience, and knew how to use his aggression better.. Angulo is still learning that.

He's got to learn how to cut the ring off better, and how to box a little to get himself to the distance he needs to be at to be effective. He should have fought guys like Verno Phillips, Bundrage, Bunema, Sechew Powell, Joel Julio.. Cintron was a huge step in class.. but again, I think they thought Cintron was shot.

He has about 18 fights, there probably arent more than 10 boxers in the division that I would pick over him. Physically and mentally he seems ready to take on the lower tier of the top ten, many Mexican fighters are thrown right in there in the beginning (Margarito, Edgar Sosa...etc), and they either have it or they dont. Due to his olympic pedigree and high level promoter he could have taken the easy route and fought a bunch of bums while building up his record. But true to his moniker "El Perro" he has fought all comers, they put him in with Richard Gutierrez, Andrey Tsurkan, Cosme Rivera, and Cintron all in a row. He has looked very good in most of those fights, I would only avoid putting him in with the very best, i.e. Paul Williams, Martinez, Dzinzurik. But aside from those guys I would love to see him against Latimore, Ouma, Verno Phillips, and Moore. At this point I think he could take Cory Spinks, as Spinks has slowed down a lot and has always been "chinny".

Does anyone know why he's fought so little? Isn't he like 27 already?

There are numerous reports of Angulo being sick for that fight. Frank Espinosa Jr, who posts on here also confirmed it.

If they didn't step up after 15 fights then they will have to 4 fights later unless they're taking the Amir Khan route. Angulo did what he had to do, his loss didn't come because he's rushed but because he's one-dimensional, terribly slow and has no defense.

Agreed. He took the right fight, but just couldn't come out with a W. It's not like he was dominated and beat up in that fight to the point where he is damaged goods or anything like that. He can bounce back and I believe he would beat Cintron in a rematch.
