What's the saddest thing you have seen as a boxing fan

Bad decisions at all levels. My uncle's a boxing coach for amateurs. His gym is in Manchester and he took a young kid to a bout in Liverpool. I wasnt there, but apparently this kid boxed the ears off this kid from Liverpool, the bout couldn't have been anymore one sided, even the home team thought they lost, but the decision went against my uncle and the kid from Manchester. This lad is dedicated, trains hard and has the right attitude. My uncle has put many hours, and energy into training him.

For the decision to go the wrong way is a terrible stain on the sport. There's no consolation of a nice paycheck at amateur level and robberies discourage young kids from taking part. It's wrong at any level and sad to see.

Recently for me was seeing Shinsuke Yamanaka get destroyed even more brutally in his rematch against Nery.

 

Prichard Colon's whole story is by far the saddest story I have ever seen int he sport. I was watching the fight live. First fight I have ever really witnessed a referees decisions effect a fighter life. Boxing is no joke.

Seeing Cotto whole career transform due to cheater.

Robberies are so common that they are forgotten.
Lara vs. Williams / Rios vs. Abril are ones that come to mind.

As a close second I would have to add seeing Golota trying to destroy Riddick Bowe's ballsack.

 

Judges seem to be able to do what they want. So boxing is ok to be seen as corrupt. Why is that allowed to happen. Why are the governing bodies not getting involved when the decision is so wrong, it's baffling.

 

How about coming back against El sheezeburger Chaves Jr?

 

Pretty sure they aren't. I've said it many times and will keep saying it, if it really just was about (in)competence then a-side/home/featured fighters would suffer almost as much from bad referees and judges, and not benefit 95 to 99% of the time from it.
