Imo the punch transitioned from uppercut to hook, that's why i would still call it a left hook rather than an uppercut.

It was different. I went to watch it again after we spoke about it. How devastating. The followup right hand by Curry after the knockdown was so conclusive. The odd thing is McCallum and Curry had another classic one punch knockout with a left hook.

I couldn't call it an uppercut personally. One could argue hybrid maybe. Have a look at impact as Charles head is snapped sideways. There's very very little upward momentum of either head or body at impact and beyond. Many left hooks start at the waist or well below the shoulder. Have a look at McCallum's in this thread vs Curry. A genuine uppercut see's the head or even entire body moving upwards and even backwards in this Saad example.

    • Robinson knocked out Fullmer with a left hook to the chin. Robinson later called the blow "the most perfect punch of my career."
    • Fullmer later recalled: "I didn't know anything about being hit. I didn't know anything about being down. The first thing I knew, I was standing up. Robinson was in the other corner. I thought he was in great condition, doing exercises between rounds. My manager crawled into the ring. I said, 'What happened?' He said, 'They counted to ten.' Up to then, I didn't know."

I remember after Mike knocked out Donald, Mike said I saw with Honeyghan he was hit with the left and right hands and I knew he threw left and right hands very well. so I thought I will beat him at his own punch..

Curry's left-hook on McCrory is the one that stands out for me. The coordinated transfer of power and speed in that punch was immense.
