Why is this guy even being protected? I don't see how this guy can be a draw what so ever...A slow ass 7 foot 300+ pound man with no power and whos money punch is a lazy jab. Just get him out of here, hes been around for years now and nobody cares about him, just cash him out and feed him to the Klits, or Arreolla even. What does the WBA think they are accomplishing by keeping him around and having him fight that cockroach John Ruiz over and over again? Wouldn't you think the WBA would want a HW champion that people actually pay attention to?
Werd. I pray that he gets KTFO this weekend so we can move on. Plus, Holyfield is the real WBA Champ right now, they just didn't give him the belt.
What they are accomplishing is collecting sanctioning fee's over and over and over for these eliminators, interim titles, titles, and title in recess fights. None of the fighters involved in this circle are that good, so close decisions occur (with or without a robbery involved), and they get to do it all over again and pawn off each matchup as something that makes a difference in the division and to the public...which it does not.
The reason is Wilfred Sauerland. He is a very powerful promoter. He has most of the sanctioning bodies in his back pocket.
You hit it on the nose, maxime! Sauerland is a powerful promoter, and he makes some good bucks with Valuev who sells tickets in Germany. Last time I watched him live the arena was sold out and millions of tv viewers watched his fight on tv. I guess Sauerland would love to see him keep fighting opponents like Ruiz for ages. He didnt accept the Klitschko brothers' offer to fight his boy for big money about 2 years ago.He probably fears that as soon as Valuev loses big time his markebilty is down and he wont make any big paydays with the behemoth any more. He is probably right in thinking that way.
Could we expect a Valuev-Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko fight in the future if Valuev becomes champ again or goes downhill, or ages?
"I guess Sauerland would love to see him keep fighting opponents like Ruiz for ages." seeing as Ruiz is already slated to fight the winner (if you haven't heard) it'll probably happen, lol amazing that between Ruiz, Valuev and Chagaev we've already seen Ruiz-Valuev 1, Ruiz-Chagaev 1, Chagaev-Valuev 1, Valuev-Chagaev 2 and Saturday will be Chagaev-Valuev 2 ... with Ruiz facing the winner. never ending?
well I've heard this from Dan Rafael "Ruiz, the ludicrous mandatory challenger for the winner of the Valuev-Chagaev rematch" so that's why I think Ruiz might get the shot. but I did read a press release that said something about Holyfield fighting a champion in September.
This. The WBA had absolutely zero problem with their image getting dragged into the mud with Ruiz either. He paid up his sactioning fees every time so they were happy with that.
it's more a business move, and that's how the alphabet Org's make a majority of their money anyway through sanctioning fees and what not.
holyfield deserves to be champ, chagaev is the real champ, valuev is a fraud, ruiz hugs too much, yadda yadda blah blah blah. there jus avoided the inevitable. wlad and vitali r the true champs. go head wba try to hold that belt hostage all u want. everybody knows who the real champs r.
