Hmm, I get the impression that Fury isn't as popular or as well known in the US as he pretends to be or wishes he was... Also, I'm not entirely sure how popular Usyk is over there either. That's got to have an impact. The PPV market in the UK and Europe isn't big enough to bankroll the 500 million that Fury is talking about. He probably knows that's not realistic and is just seeing what he can get away with. Realistically, can't see the fight being worth over 100 - 150 million. I know this is a bit of a long-stretch, but the cost-of-living crisis in the UK (obviously everywhere else as well) is bound to have an impact with energy and shopping bills about to hit the roof. I'm not 100% sure that everyone that wants to watch is going to have £30 (probably minimum) spare to watch the fight.
Hopefully the Saudis will put up whatever $ is necessary to make this fight happen. They have money to burn. Otherwise I'm fine with 2 boxers I like retiring undefeated.
I'd rather them duke it out to be honest. They're both future hall of famers anyway, and in Usyk's case a bonefide ATG already. Fury has won every single HW belt in his career (Wlad's WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring in 2015 and Wilder's WBC in 2020). Usyk has been undisputed in CW, plus now unified in HW... Fury's got more to lose out of the two legacy-wise. Whereas Usyk's got more to lose belt-wise.
How many heavyweight champs retire undefeated? Not too many. I actually prefer these two don't fight and retire undefeated but if they do fight I want it to be for all 4 belts. Think Lewis was the last HW champ that had all the belts at once and there were only 3 back then.
I don't want to see Usyk or Fury get their cherry popped. If they fight, I'll root for Usyk but I think Fury will win.
In the real world £100m or less But Saudi's involved means both men can get that. They don't turn a profit.
It's boxing, losing a fight is not the end of the world and it should never be an excuse not to take a fight, let alone the undisputed one!
If they fight, well at least we'll have the first 4 belt HW champ assuming there isn't a draw, or NC. If they don't fight they will probably both retire undefeated. Since I have zero control I'll try to enjoy whichever happens.
Real boxing fans love this fight and for sure it will bring good casual support, especially from Europe But Fury v Aj would have easily been twice as big and have much more casual interest had Aj beat Usyk In fact I'm probably underestimating how big Fury/Aj would have been I actually think if Wilder/Aj fight? It will bring more interest It's actually a much more entertaining fight on paper and I have no doubt casuals would be all over it and if it was fought in the States? Then it would do decent ppv numbers in my opinion
Definitely smashed uk records and like done very well in the states too It was the biggest fight in boxing before Aj first lost to usyk
No one knew who The Dosser was across the pond until Fury dragged him from obscurity and graciously introduced him to his own countrymen. He was completely unknown outside of Tuscaloosa prior to then. Fury has already conquered the USA. Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt. The home of boxing, the home of HW boxing Great Britain and cash central Saudi are where it's at now. Fury fought in front of a record breaking 94,000 fans in his last fight and Usyk has sold out arenas and stadiums all over the world and, like Fury, he's a global superstar now after annexing AJ's belts and stealing his fanbase.
