Not being a big enough draw for sales in Boxing against Calzaghe?

Surely with that ninny commentator building him up after RJJ, the fact that he is America's ''next'' big thing, and people are dying to see Calzaghe lose, which means they'll watch anyone he fights, is enough to guarentee a deal? Oh in the UK it would sell a bucket load too, so its stupid saying it would be a financial flop.

I hope he does set a fight with Dawson, then there are no more excuses for people denying his legacy.

He beats Dawson, there is literally no one left to beat, and Dawsons just a long shot thats been touted for him after Pavlik was exposed ( thank god, or he'd be fighting Pavlik then Dawson)

Apart from Glen Johnson, Antonio Tarver, a rematch with Hopkins, perhaps Froch, rematch with Kessler, Arthur Abraham, Felix Strum, Kelly Pavlik...
There are plenty of people out there for Calzaghe to go for the 50-0.

Froch never, Tarver, Calzaghe would get slated for, Kessler whats the point? Hopkins same, Glenn Johnson won;t fight Calzaghe as he pulled out years ago anyway, Pavlik shouldn't be allowed in a ring with Calzaghe to protect his own health and career, and no middleweights for heavens sake.

    Dawson or retire.

Unfortunately, there just isn't a big enough fight out there that would satisfy Calzaghe haters - all of the "names" aren't prime enough for them, the "world beating" fighters he has beaten suddenly become bums once he fights them, and he won't get any credit for beating up and comers.

As I've asked a couple of times before - who could he reasonably have fought at or near their "primes" at SMW that would have enhanced his legacy? Most of the "greats" campaigned at different weights, and the great British era of SMWs Benn, Eubank, Watson, Collins etc was over.

Joes made enough money, he can bank millions more on another fight, whoever he fights, dawsons the only worthwhile one, and teh only one ppl will give credibility too.

Glen Johnson sent Calzaghe an open letter this week that was published everywhere saying he wants the fight, and as far as I'm aware Calzaghe is the one who originally pulled out of the arranged fight. Tarver is still a very credible opponent IMO, ok he isn't Dawson but Tarver is one of the best light heavy's of this era. Pavlik should certianly not be Joe's next opponent, but if Pavlik can beat an Abraham or a Kessler then definetly that could happen. Kessler has improved a lot since last fighting Calzaghe, in fact I would say Kessler is the single biggest threat to Calzaghe's '0' if the two were to fight again.

The thing, you can't judge Calzaghe's legacy until five or ten years, because chances are Kessler could go on to be THE MAN at 168/175, Lacy could turn things around, hell even Bika could pick up an alphabetty in the future. Jones could come back and KO a top 10 LH, Hopkins could stick around for a couple more years even. We just don't know what the guys on Joe's resume are going to do, if they succeed, Joe will have an excellent resume in five or ten years time.

But agreed, Chad Dawson would be an excellent name to have.

Johnson actually pulled out due to horrific injuries to calzaghe, instead fo rescheduling, he said he'd never fight him, funny how he now throws an ''open'' letter around now.

Pavlik beating Kessler would be one of the biggest shocks in boxing, and Calzaghe isn't going to wait around for these fights to take place and fight the winner.

Kessler is a great fighter, but Joe beat him, and he would again, It's still Dawson or no one.

One last thing, can you imagine this forum, if Calzaghe signed up to fight Tarver? the amount of abuse Joe would get for fighting a ''shot to pieces Tarver who was dominated by Dawson'' comments? never.

Dawson would be Calzaghe's last fight, and he would regret having taken it.
