If Joe beats Dawson then another fighter will apear, and haters will says he need to prove himnself again and 10 years later will be the same an ancient Joe trying to prove himself against the haters.
You dont find the irony in that bull**** you just posted. Calzaghe pulled out of three scheduled fights with Johnson in which Johnson was going to move down to 168 to fight him. After dealing with Calzaghe's shananigans of course you would say "**** HIM". Calzaghe even postponed the Lacy and Jones fight b/c of hand injuries or whatever. Eat a euro dick.
This man knows what he's talking about. :good Though i must say, a 'Nard rematch would be another good choice by Calzaghe.
If calzaghe did fight Dawson, he would win. But then the fat yanks would come out with more **** saying he has to beat somebody else. It was pavlik for ages, "all he has to do is beat pavlik to prove himself" now pavlik was abused, its Dawson:| ****ING STUPID YANK HILL BILLIES
if this guy Joe C beats Dawson I will then be convinced the man is a great Champion and shut the **** up! and I am one of his main detractors. Calzaghe has to finally show the world! and Dawson is physically gifted young and prime and I belive will beat Joe C. A victoy here would lay to waste all doubts.
Dawson is a serious threat to Calzaghe and has already knocked off 3 top 5 fighters to get into this position. That would be a big win for Calzaghe. If Taylor beats Lacy impressively tonight than he would be a very legit challeng for Calzaghe. With Hopkins giving Joe such a close fight and then coming back to beat Pavlik impressively than a rematch makes a lot of sense there. Kessler has picked up another title since the first fight. If he were to beat someone of note in his next fight than a rematch would make some sense, actually the winner of a Kessler-Taylor fight would be someone Joe could aim for. And don't count out Pavlik. If he bounces back nicely over Rubio and beats Abraham in the summer than he would be right back in the mix. Him or Abraham if he wins. Than there is still Winky, Glenn Johnson, Bute, and throw in Froch and Green if they can pick up a signifigant win. There are a ton of options for Calzaghe. He's near his peak, one of the best in the world, has HBO behind him, and is a big draw at home. I not only want to see him fight on I'd like to see him fight several more fights.
TBH, I was one of the idiots saying Tarver was shot. On reflection, that isn't true, and he is still one of the best guys in the division. There is no way that if Calzaghe is only around for one might fight, that he should fight Tarver, it obviously should be Dawson, or Froch IMO. But, if Joe were around for a few more years, Tarver is definetly a name he should be looking at, in fact, Marvin Hagler of all people said Joe should fight Tarver next.
I think beating the likes of Tarver, Johnson and Dawson would definetly add something to the legacy. As would maybe, depending on what happens after, beating Froch if he gets the WBC belt (lots of maybe's around Froch though). I think the big draw for Calzaghe now has to be, get to 50-0, and in that respect there are plenty of guys out there who would look good on the resume. The only thing that doesn't add anything to the resume, is a Hopkins rematch. I can see a Kessler rematch being a very good win, but it would have to be one or two fights down the line, give chance a Kessler to keep making a bigger name for himself before those two get it on again.
His hand's won't be his biggest problem if this fight happens... But otherwise I'm definitely with you and happy to see a Calzaghe sans the maternal instincts to 'protect' Joe from everything out there. I'll value his record much more if he loses to Dawson (not to mention if he wins). At least it will show he was a bigger man than many here argued - and that he wasn't scared shitless, protecting his precious little zero...
