What's up with guys like Joe Joyce and Beterbiev rising stars already in their late 30s?

They are both positioned as the next big things at ages where most pro athletes are planning for retirement.

Are they two outliers or are things shifting where boxers really are peaking at much later ages than in past years?

It's interesting how they are both 37 near 38 and haven't even fought 20 pro fights yet.

They are smart enough to know each fight kills millions of brain cells and shorten their life span. They fight twice a year max and make lots of money.

Joyce only picked up boxing at 22 and beterbiev is Eastern European and most of time they turn pro late plus he’s had a lot of promotional and injury problems hence him having less than 20 pro fights.

Well Artur unified his division already and has a very impressive resume. There’s really no comparison between the two.

Well there is one… They both lost to Usyk in the amateurs. :D Lol

Beterbiev beat Usyk once as an amateur too. He also knocked him down in all 3 fights if my memories serves correctly.
