Maybe, but hell i think everything's funny, when it showed jim lampley getting teary eyed,i thought someone had died.
I don't understand what he's being criticized for. The guy obviously builds up relationships with fighters and the HBO boxing production crew. While his job is to be relatively objective, he's still a fan of the these fighters. He gets emotional like anyone would who is that engulfed in the sport. Y'all need to grow the $%@# up.
You guys forgot... 36-5 dosen`t sell nearly as well as an undefeated fighter... HBO must be like damn...
"My name is Jim" (All: "Hi Jim") and I'm an alcoholic. It's been 4 days since my last drink, a gin and tonic after the fight"
never liked him as comentator always overreacts to every lil thing thats going on.since Merchant is out i prefer to see the fights with other comentators like Setanta etc.
He was crying cause his pin up got beat. I quiet like lamps normally but everytime somone mentioned a something posative by margo he would straight away try and hype up what cotto was doing sometimes that justified but in the later rounds it became really annoying
We need Al Bernstein in Jim's place, and we need to get Max Kellerman reassigned to a custodian role, he can mop up the arena after the fights, or he can hand you paper towels in the men's room, and fill up those glasses with the combs with that blue liquid. In Max's place, the Champ, Sean O' Grady, and Al Albert replacing Emmanuel Steward.
Al Bernstein is a commentator you moron. Lampley is a play by play man. There's a difference. But i like Bernstein a lot too.
when im seeing two guys fight i dont need a male chearleader getting wet with every lil thing that happens. i like a guy like Merchant who speaks his mind and isnt afraid to say we are watching **** when the fight isnt good.
It is hilarious, but we SHOULD be criticising lampley, because his emotions take over and effect his ability of objectively call a fight. His bias for Cotto and disregard for Margarito was disgustingly obvious, and he is the play-by-play commentator. His job is to watch the fight through impartial eyes and give an accurate assessment of the events. Why, I just watched a DLH/ Hopkins last night, and it was painfully obvious how much Lampley was rooting for DLH, and when he finally goes out on a bodyshot, Lampley sadly, matter-of-factly tells us. Now you can imagine if roles were reversed and oscar had KO'ED hops that he would be screaming to the rafters.
Yes, Lampley can get excited at times over a shot that doesn't land but his positives FARRRRRRRRRRRRRR outweight his negatives. Not even close. The guy is a presence. He's on top of it. It's hard finding a guy with his talents. And i'm not being some suck up.
