I'm really looking forward to this one, it should be a really fun fight. I think Linares has been overlooked since his loss to Salgado, but the guy is one of the best out there.

Linares is in LA. At Wildcard. With Roach. And Ariza. For the last two months. He's been posting pictures on facebook of himself hanging out at Golden Boy headquarters sitting behind Oscar's desk. He had a birthday recently. His favorite color is orange. Everything is true except the last part.

    Some Japanese guy? :blood

He lost to Juan Carlos Salgado - a Mexican (who in turn lost to "some Japanese guy" named Takashi Uchiyama).

Tomorrow Salgado is fighting a sparring partner of Linares named Argenis Mendez.

Mendez has some slick defense and throws nice quick combos. He was pretty evenly matched with Linares in sparring.

I bet if you pit all three of them against each other several times, each would pick up a couple of wins over the others.

Anyway, he should be too skilled for Tony DeMarco unless the size and strength prove too much for him. He's adjusted so far so well to lightweight.

Linares did not lose to a Japanese fighter but rather a Mexican (though the fight was in Japan). He was caught cold in the first and never really recovered. The guy had a shoulder injury after his win over Gameliel Diaz and was off for a year. After that he came back against two nobodies and was not very impressive. Rumours were that he was getting owned in sparring. Then he got KTFO by Salgado. Then again he looked bad in his next fight but I think he got up for the Juarez fight and has been on a nice little run since.

The guy can make it straight to the top as long as his chin can hold up a little which IMO it can. I don't think that very short fight against Salgado means much.

when Khan got KTFO, everyone threw him in the garbage but I said he could come back.

Linares is the same. Keep an eye on him cause he is potentially even better than Khan. A real elite talent imo. Especially with the team he has now
