Alvarado was taking a serious beating and Weeks let it continue. Then Alvarado's corner tried to protect their guy by telling Weeks they were stopping the fight. Weeks basically pushed the trainer out of the way, and made Alvarado tell him that he didn't want to continue. Bad enough he was taking a beating, the ref didn't have to put him in the position where he made the decision himself to stop the fight in front of his fans.

    What's up with Tony Weeks?

Better question is what's up with provodnikov's mom? I was expecting Mario to come out of nowhere and stomp on her head.

Had to ask the fighter so there's no confusion. Alvarado didn't want none. He should retire.

if he stopped it people would be complaining the other way saying it was a 'bull****' call.

The trainer said he was stopping the fight and the ref ignored him. The trainer has the right to stop the fight.

Actually I like what the refs did by telling Alvarado trainer to shut up and lets Alvarado himself tell him if he wants to continue. The ref knew from Alvarado face before Alvarado went to his corner that Alvarado didn't want to continue so he did excellent by asking Alvarado to make sure. My only problem is the first knock down, the refs pause after he went to the 9 count. Did anybody else notice that? The refs basically help Alvarado to continue the fight after the 1st knockdown. Prov should've won that round imo by knockout.

I need to rewind and rewatch, but I think Weeks missed the KO in rd 8.

I don't think Mike beat the count on the first KD.

Actually it might not be the same but first thing I thought was Martinez vs cintron but bute vs Andrade first fight got me thinking maybe it was like that too.

Yeah, me too, but I was fine with Weeks letting it go on since the fighter was obviously planning on getting up right before 10.

yeah, i saw that. it's a good job that Prov won in the end because something dodgy was going to go down if it continued.

    great fight though.
