What's with all these new heavies who don't/can't punch?

We need to see more of him, but from his two fights I have seen Eric Fields has a helluva punch

I think the overdoing of weight traiing may be factor. When you ocasionally lift light to moderate as a supplement to training it's ok. But guys are too bulked up, or overdoing it. Weight-lifting strength does not always equel punching power, and when done wrong may diminish it by making a guy too bulky.

Footwork is also a factor, some guys are like statues, and can't move into positition to punch with any balance. Working on technique is no longer a priority, I guess.

Most of the top heavies don't really appear to do all that much weight training. Wouldn't there be more definition there? Look at Iggy, Liakhovich, and Povetkin, they don't exactly have ideal weightlifter's bodies. Honestly I think they could benefit from more weight training.

But I have no idea what any of their specific training routines are.

Having a cut body doesn't equate to power or Ken Norton would have been the greatest HW of the 70s.

Look at Kostya himself - There's no 6 pack or big ass biceps on KT and look at his power. His comes through excellent training and technique.
