I don't see anything bad about landing shots over and over again on Margo's head :D
The thing is he HAS to make adjustments as you say, stay off the damn ropes, fight in the center of the ring, use his speed to counter and duck, and of course NOT fade after 7-8 rounds.
LennoxGOAT said it very well if you saw the post about Cotto, that "he should have painted an invisible square inside the center of the ring and never left it. Use his speed and skill, counter, and move in the small square". I very much agree on that.

I agree with you also. But that doesn't mean he can't win a rematch. I've seen too many fights where I thought a guy couldn't win a rematch, only to be surprised. Cotto has the ability, he just has to put it together.

Totally agree with it too, point is some changes should be made, if he comes in fighting the same way he's out.

About nothing being wrong landing to his head over and over, well it was proven to be inaffective to be honest despite landing some major bombs. When you know you can't hurt a man punching them there over and over in 11 rounds then go to the body a bit and head, like hit him everywhere you can. If Cotto cam kae the adjustments LennoxGOAT mentioned then he doesn't need to worry about that.

Yep. About the head shots, I meant if the head is there to pound on, then pound it. Sure that fight proved Cotto can't hurt Margarito by punching him to the head, but I don't think Cotto should try to hurt Margarito by throwing to the head, just score his points. Now he definitely knows he can't hurt him.

Good post. If Cotto is in with a better man, so be it. He has correctable flaws. I'm not picking him to beat Am either. But he can win. AM is just a long dude, and if Cotto stayed center ring, he is going to have to spin AM, and be ready for a busy fight because AM is not going to slow down. AM does slow down in fights, but Cotto has to train vigorously because his defense is going to have to be there the whole fight. He has to go to the body regardless of the risk, and he has to use his speed to bang the body and get back to defense because AM is just a unstoppable truck.

Exactly, so now he knows that he needs to be in the best shape of his life, and that he has to attempt to slow AM down. That is why I love Floyd's shotgun jab to the belly. George Foreman said it in one fight that it feels like a syringe lol:lol:

Still he's scoring points of course but I'd like to see him mix those punches, not stick with one hoping it will hurt him later. He didn't know he couldn't hurt him and just kept the punches up hoping they will be affective later, he learned that they won't so he's better off mixing them. But as LennoxGOAT said, if he can apply a new gameplan where he will be making Margarito miss a lot then he can stick with him as he scores points for a decision.

That's what I'm saying too. :good As long as he brings some changes he has a chance, if he does the exact same thing or applies a new gameplan for a round or two then goes back to first fight mode then he's in for hell.

I didn't have the pleasure of seeing the fight. I did talk to a friend of mine who saw it. He said that Cotto usually does a lot of body punching but rarely went to the body in this fight. He didn't say that Cotto didn't fight well just that Cotto didn't fight to his fight.

Margarito discouraged Cotto from going to the body, because everytime he did, Margarito would simultaneously punch with Cotto to his body, with Margarito's shots having greater effect.

Why the hell would Cotto dedicate more of his efforts to the body, when everytime he did, Margarito would torture him there to 3 and 4 times the effect?

Margarito discouraged Cotto from dedicating more of his efforts to the body.
