Cortez has always been like this.

Bayless does it as well... look back at the Hatton v Pacquiao fight; even when they are not clinching he is running in yelling break. He has been doing it for years... i don't think many people realise this either.

joe cortez was shocking in the hatton - mayweather fight, not only was he breaking the fighters the second hatton got close, but he was on hattons case non stop.
"dont be holding ricky, get em out ricky, come on ricky"
sure, floyd would have beaten hatton whoever the referee would have been, but joe cortez is proving to be anything but fair.

 

Cortez should be deported

 

He does it all the time, he is a horrible official that is always on the house fighter side.

 

Thank God Cortez wasnt reffing Corrales-Castillo I, he would've broken them up even though there was no clinching the entire fight just phone booth fighting.

 

Because he is the promoter ref. not the fight official.

JMM refused him for a fight and alot of other fighters should do the same.

 

he's a **** ref. remember when hatton got the point deducted for hitting mayweather on the back of the head. the shot didn't even land and mayweather had turned his back on hatton. similar thing happened in the fight with khan and maidana. khan was turning his back and holding on for dear life. no wonder maidana was frustrated. the point deduction was well harsh. cortez has ruined countless fights with his breaking up and harsh bordering inexplicable point deductions. i had the fight level but for the point deduction. thats what won khan the fight by 1 point imo.

Cortez let Hopkins hold all night against Hopkins, have time out and use the head with little said, yet we know how Cortez has been in other fights
